Three Wives, One Husband

... welp ... as beautiful as that episode was, it's followed by the newest collection of wackadoodles. Seriously, where does TLC find these oddballs?? [Three Wives, One Husband]

At first glance they appear to be a raggedy ass bunch living a hardscrabble existence. The wives are attractive and well spoken and seem loving.

Enoch the patriarch is ... interesting... looks a little inbred IMHO.

Oops-- mods, feel free to move this. (Probably ought to be its own thread. Sorry.)

Double whoops: apparently more than one family unit is covered. Smh.

Apparently as long as TLC finds polygamists willing to go on tv I will watch. Just watched and as with all polygamist relationships I find myself shaking my head trying to understand them. I don’t. One wife said that she would rather have part of a good man than all of a so-so man. How about finding a good man you keep all to yourself.

I don’t know what it says about me but I will probably keep watching. I did find the scenery breathtaking.

Anyone else pissed off that these people have permission to blast into rock that has been there for millions of years? IDKY that's literally the only thing about the show that bothered me. Why can't they build their houses next to the rocks not in the rocks. It's like they're trying to be cave people or something.

So now the State of Utah has made polygamy a criminal offense 5 years for each count.  These people have gone public and now have to get out of the State.  Their little community is out of town and is going to be difficult to sell.  The children will be taken out of school and away from everything they know.  Several of the women are already unhappy and it 's only going to get worse.  So sad for the kids.

I don't like stomp on a people's belief system but ...WHAT!  They are going to become mini gods and lord it over the rest of the world?  I don't think so. Those poor children.

Is this on TLC? Is it the same show that was on Channel 4 last year?

I don't know.  Apparently this community made the show on condition it was only shown in the UK.  The show  was then sold to TLC who are showing it in N. America.  So TLC outed them against their will.  Which proves to me TLC doesn't give a rat'a patooie about the well being of anyone.  I think these people are nuts but they don't deserve this IMO.  Maybe they showed up on Sister Wives because the cat was out of the bag.

BTW cats don't belong in bags !

There's too much jealousy with one of the wives. I don't think she truly knew what she was getting into.

She's making me uneasy. This whole thing will not end well, IMO.

Nope. She has headline potential.

So glad you've joined, @Sky with diamonds.

Hopefully @srlm will hop on too.

I think the adults of the family have headline potential. Especially with the new polygamy law. And then going public...yea, not a good thing for anyone.

She seems very unprepared for kids...being kids. Major yikes.

Birth control? Nah. It's unsettling how quick she became overwhelmed. The kids were being kids.

Damn girl, a congratulations wouldn't be that hard to say, would it?

This s getting creepier :wtsf:

Is this a thing? When a brother dies, and leaves two wives, does the living  brother usually marry the wives left behind?

It's very much a principle from the Old Testament.

Still skeevy AF in my mind.

The "godly" thing to do would be: care for the widows & children (a New Testament principle) without forcing the poor widows to remarry.

But I'm just a heathen lapsed evangelical, so what do I know?

... if my Jesus college theology days memory serves me right, I believe it's from the book of Deuteronomy... Where the oldest living brother takes responsibility... something about Levi?

[Don't quote me ... I haven't checked facts!!]

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑

      Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum. It was suggested to me by former and outspoken Remnant Fellowship member (Natasha Pavlovich) that I join this forum and put out here what I do. She also warned me that no one on here trusts, or trusts easily, and that I'd likely be assumed to be a Remnant plant or spy until vetted and verified as not that. Fair enough.
In short, and in truth, I'm a psychotherapist with 25 yrs experience in Franklin TN (less than three miles from RF incidentally) with a special interest in working with people formerly associated with cults, cult-like or any and all high control intitutions. I'm especially interested in working with those desiring not only deconstruct, recover and learn to thrive post-indoctrination, but those desiring to recapture or cultivate an authentic sense of theology without walls, or spirituality with borders.
To date, I've worked with former Amish, Mennonite, LDS/FLDS, FOG, and a those representing a whole slew of evangelical, fire and brimstone fear/shame/guilt-inducing institutions.
I am especially interested in working with former Remnant Fellowship and Scientology members. I view RF as basically Scientology without the budget.
I'll leave it there. Much more can be gleaned about me through my website: therapyoutsidethebox.com or IG: @ therapyoutsidethebox

      Peace,

I'm a huge baseball fan. This year, MLB TV showed Liga Dominicana games in December and January and it was a fucking revelation. The players had so much fire and joy. The announcers with their charming DR accents were a blast, though I could hardly keep up with the Spanish. DItto the Serie del Caribe. As a White Sox fan, the MLB season is going to suffer by comparison. Te amo los Tigres del Licey!
