  1. TLC's newest train wreck! Dating+ Polygamy. What could possibly go wrong? Well those two are clinging to the guy like burrs! The other one will have to be behind him on the couch. The Snowdens...yeahhhh
  2. Just starting a thread because the Netflix Dic “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey” came out today. I haven’t watched it yet but I’ll report back when I do.
  3. Some of Winston Blackmore's family presented at a symposium in Salt Lake City. Since the FLDS and their break-offs are some of my pet fundie topics, I found the article interesting - but the comments are often even more so. http://www.sltrib.com/home/4165574-155/polygamists-describe-how-to-live-in Blackmore's more sophisticated than the FLDS, but I'm not convinced the lifestyle is any healthier.
  4. https://www.blackhillsfox.com/content/news/Company-tied-to-polygamous-sect-leader-buys-Minnesota-land-504556981.html I was disappointed this summer, I never had a chance to go drive out towards the compound, but my trip was short and hectic as I was in the Hills for a memorial. Do we know of any FLDS groups in MN already? Or will there be a eastern migration for the Custer group? Sorry if this double posts, my phone has a gremlin today
  5. Channel 4 have a new docu-series featuring people who live in the Rockland Ranch community in Utah. This episode is about Enoch Foster and his wives Katrina and Lilian, and their 16 children. The family is courting a potential new wife, Lydia. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/three-wives-one-husband
  6. megans-polyblog.blogspot.com/ I've been following this blog for about 2 years (give or take) and find myself mesmerized. I shall do my best to summarize. Megan was raised in a very tumultuous home. Her father was a drug addict, meth to be specific among other drugs, and her mother didn't exactly protect her from exposure. Her father was arrested and incarcerated and eventually he died while incarcerated. In the meantime her mother started bringing boyfriends home and living it up as if she didn't have (at least) 2 children to take care of. Just recently Megan wrote that her father had raped her while high on meth when she was 16. I think this event led her to seek out a man who would protect her and also be like a father figure to her. Megan hungered for stability, love and someplace to call home. She began researching the poly lifestyle, specifically, polygyny. She "met" a poly family online and eventually went to spend a week with them. They "love bombed" her and she fell for it, hook, line and sinker. The family was one man who was legally married to one wife and "spiritually" married to the second. I believe the man is in his late 30's, early 40's but he could be older. He has 2-3 children by his first wife (one of whom just married at age 17 to another person from their "church") and i believe 2 children by the second wife. At the time of meeting, Megan was barely 18 and very naive about how cults work. I don't believe she knew this family for more than a few months before "marrying" the man, whom she refers to as "Steve." One positive note is that she went to Culinary school and got a chef's degree, so she does have a skill set if she ever decides to make a break for it. In the meantime she has given birth to g/g twins and very recently, a son. There also was a change in the family dynamic when the 1st wife decided she could no longer live the poly lifestyle. Incidentally this change occurred when Steve took a 4th wife (which he originally said he would not do because more than 3 is...greedy...or something.) The 4th wife has actually been married to another poly couple but there was a falling out and she left...and then stayed at Steve's house "while she healed from the break up." Um yeah...didn't see that coming a mile away, didja? So even though another wife was added they are still at 3 wives and 1 husband. When the first wife was at home there were strict rules about wearing long skirts and other such fundy-ness. Now that she has left the building they will occasionally wear jeans and shorts. Let's not forget that they live on a sizable farm with no nearby neighbors to gaze longingly upon their fertile flesh. She spooks easily and has shut down her blog twice when the questions became pointed in the comment section. She was also busted putting up stolen u/s pics from the interwebz and passing them off as her twin pregnancy. So some people (myself included)wonder if any of this is true or just some elaborate hoax run by a bored housewife. They are definitely quiverful in their "church" and do not use birth control of any kind. Megan has no secondary education outside of high school and no real support system among her biological family. It's quite sad, really. I think she will regret her choices in about 10 more years and basically be tied to a life which she can find no escape. Meanwhile her "husband" seems to be interested in finding pretty, young brides so he can fill his quiver. It's a trainwreck....truly.

    Three Wives, One Husband

... welp ... as beautiful as that episode was, it's followed by the newest collection of wackadoodles. Seriously, where does TLC find these oddballs?? [Three Wives, One Husband] At first glance they appear to be a raggedy ass bunch living a hardscrabble existence. The wives are attractive and well spoken and seem loving. Enoch the patriarch is ... interesting... looks a little inbred IMHO. Oops-- mods, feel free to move this. (Probably ought to be its own thread. Sorry.) Double whoops: apparently more than one family unit is covered. Smh.
  8. I just discovered the "Survivors Podcast(https://www.survivorspodcast.com/podcast-episodes/)." It is a really well done show that interviews survivors of polygamy. It mostly focuses on the Kingston Clan but they have interviewed some people who have left the FLDS. As well as, a current 16 year old young lady who is a member of the Centennial Park group. According to Young Barlow, Rulon Jeffs was murdered with clay used to harden pipes. I highly recommend listening to the episode.
  9. I've been really enjoying the Year of Polygamy podcast recently and highly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject. The woman who does it has done some great interviews lately, including a recent one with a current FLDS member. I'd be really curious to see what you all think of that one in particular, because there were definitely moments that annoyed me because it seemed to glorify the FLDS.
  10. Fundamentalist Mormons were my first group that got me interested. I have studied A LOT about FLDS/bountiful/Kingston etc. However I have never heard of the Knights of the Crystal Blade?!? These girls were ages 4-8 seriously?!!?!?! Be prepared mentally this is a huge rabbit hole, https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/self-styled-utah-prophet-gets-additional-15-year-prison-term/ar-AAzhXwd
