Movies that Miss Raquel should review

Daenerys

Since formergothardite has posted another example of her fabulously informative reviews, where she totally gets to the heart of the deeper meaning of the film, I think it's time we made a list of movies that we would love to see dissected on her blog.

I vote The Shawshank Redemption.

I want to do the Clockwork Orange thing with the eye-openers and force her to watch Milk or some other powerful gay rights movie.

Hell, now I want her to review A Clockwork Orange.

I'd love to see her review The Rocky Horror Picture Show because I'm mean like that.

Also, seconding Dogma (or anything with Alan Rickman really... mostly I just want an excuse for her to post pictures of St. Alan  ). Also, Chocolat (with Johnny Depp).

Last Tango in Paris

Deliverance

The entire US TV series "Queer as Folk"

Transamerica

One I would sincerely like to see her do is Persepolis, because I think it could challenge her.

All great ideas  How do we think she would 'interpret' these films?

I wonder if she'd completely miss the rape aspect of Shawshank, and think he was just getting beaten up or something... I have the horrible feeling that she'd see the ending as 'cute' rather than poignant, and just ::gasp:: at the guy who gets murdered at the beginning rather than realising what it stands for.

Sleeping With The Enemy

Steel Magnolias.

Actually when it comes out, I might read it if she reviews Dolly's new movie she's got with Queen Latifa, Make A Joyful Noise

How about something avant-garde?

I just saw Un Chien Andalou!!!! It's short but very interesting!

(picture from the movie)

There was a romance, but I thought it was really weird. I mean, if I had one problem with this movie, it didn't always make sense. It almost felt like they did it on purpose.

AND

The man touched her breasts, which I didn't like because it wasn't clear if they were married. They were together for eight years, or seventeen, or something, and I think he should have...I don't know...proposed or something. It would have been MUCH more romantic.

(picture from the movie- not of breasts)

There were lots of ::gross:: scenes, too, like a cut-off hand in the street, and some bugs coming out of the man's hand... but I guess they were trying to shock us like in Nightmare on Friday the 13th. Hollywood is so sinful!

(new picture of movie)

Now, onto the actors-

(picture)

Simone Mareuil as the Girl

I haven't seen her before...but she's so pretty. I liked her 1920's style. I hope we'll see a lot more movies from her soon!

(picture)

Pierre Batcheff as The Guy

Never heard of him either...but he is really really good, except when he cross-dresses. There's this scene where he plays himself... TWICE! Like it's his identical twin! So funny ;) But I didn't like when he tried to touch the Girl...but God punished him with some pianos!

I didn't like the ending because it didn't leave anything clear...is she going to date the first man or his twin? And why does their apartment open on a beach? Did they buy a condo? I didn't know :(

(picture)

The movie was directed by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Daily...they are both from Spain (special fact of the day) and even though the movie is really really short...I think they'll do a lot more in the future! The movie wasn't always good, but it was interesting. I didn't like the bugs but the girl was really pretty. Just, why couldn't they have a horse? :D haha just kidding.

Unfortunately my sister messed around with YouTube and I didn't see the first minute...but that's okay, I bet it was just the credits!
