The emcees of ALL these things, male or female, completely freak me out. What kind of adult wants to hang out with unrelated little kids and watch them dance around half naked? I sort of get the parents who enter their kids (can we say living vicarously?) but the emcee/host? Ugh

I know the we're-going-to-take-a-normal-name-and-fuck-up-the-spelling thing is not unique to fundies, but as soon as I heard them pronounce the name I knew they would be the OTT religious ones. I was a little weirded out by the "bride" costume too. When they asked her who she was going to marry, I kept expecting that she'd be coached to say "Jesus", although I guess that would make her a nun...

Perhaps a business idea... christian pageants. There can be a beauty, talent, and household section. The talent section will be defined as quoting bible, playing an instrument, or singing a jesus related song. For the household section they can cook a dish for the judges, show off laundry folding skills, get a stain out of a bathtub, or change a diaper (even if its their own!)

For some reason, the rung a bell from my childhood.

The Christian one is icker than the other kind, with the pretenses it makes about glorifying God (by making your 6 year old look 20 and prostituting her on stage in front of who knows what kind of pervs.).

Entrant for the Mrs. Christian America division must be married and 18 to 55 years of age.

Entrant for the Ms. Christian America division must be single and 25 to 45 years of age.

Entrant for the Miss Christian America division must be single and 18 to 24 years of age.

Entrant for the Teen Miss Christian America division must be single and 13 to 17 years of age.

Entrant must be a U.S. citizen and must have residency for at least one year prior to the pageant date.

Entrant must be a member in a Christian oriented church for at least five years.

Entrant must currently be active in ministry.

Entrant must submit three reference letters (1) from the Pastor of their current church, (1) from their immediate ministry leader and (1) from a co-worker, schoolmate or close friend.

Entrant must submit: (1) color photo and (1) black and white photo (one face and one full length). Photos should be no smaller than a 5x7. All photos become the property of Virtue and Valor Ministries.

This isnt as screwy as the lil whore pageants. A few comments, colored above...

1 - Its OK for an 18 year old to be married and if you're not you cant be in pageants until youre 25.

2 - The "MS" division is more properly titled "the old maid" division

3 - The very fact that you have to say kids who are 13-17 must be single gives me the heebies

4 - Church of the holy basement clearly wont cut it here. You have to be active in ministry with a REAL pastor and a leader! HOLY CRAP! The duggars couldnt make it because they dont have coworkers, schoolmates or close friends...

Clearly, this organization is run by teh debil because it accepts women who actually work, have friends that arent their siblings, and go to school.

I don't know why, but I don't see how people get "sexy" from these pageants. There are sometimes when I do see it. All I see are little girls playing extreme dress up. It's not something I take lightly either. I was molested as a child and I am very sensitive to things. I just don't see how children are sexy.
