Another wide-stanced GOP fool in action

An antigay Nebraska Republican state senator is under pressure to resign over a sexually explicit video of himself that was found on his state-issued computer.

According to the Lincoln Journal-Star, the scandal has prompted the state’s Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts to call for Sen. Bill Kintner (R-Papillon) to resign.

The call comes at the conclusion of a year-long investigation into Kintner’s online activities that began when Kintner himself contacted the Nebraska State Patrol regarding “what he believed to be a potential internet scam that occurred while the senator was in Massachusetts using his state computer,” said a State Patrol spokesman on Friday.

Blogger Joe.My.God. reported that Kintner “has loudly opposed same-sex marriage, gay adoption, and transgender rights. He has also publicly declared that Christians should let gays know their business isn’t wanted by providing them with bad service.”

Wow, a homophobic, hateful senator looking to oppress people who ends up having a scandal of his own. Well get my smelling salts and point me in the direction of the nearest fainting couch.

And what a lovely Christian idea to provide bad service to people to let them know their business isn't wanted. Has that man ever even read the Bible?

Yep this guy is a charmer and I'm happy to see him go down in flames. Seems like a real hater - in an interview several years ago he was quoted saying

Asked during the same interview what he considers the biggest mystery, Kintner replied: "Women. No one understands them. They don't even understand themselves. Books and books and books have been written about it, and no one understands it."

Not to mention he tried to push through a bill forcing aid agencies working with resettled refugees to carry what is essentially terrorist insurance

@Peas n carrots: I think, in this guys case, not understanding women means that women don't like him and he can't understand why, and he doesn't want to accept any blame for that so he's just going to blame women for it.

To add scandal to this story, it appears the Governor has known about this for somewhere around a year. He apparently told Kintner to resign when he first became aware of it, then did nothing when he refused.

Disgusting.

Of course, in this state, with a Democratic party so disorganized that they can't run elections for internal offices at their own convention, Ricketts will waltz right into a second term unopposed for all practical purposes.

Excellent assessment of this dynamic.  In one sentence, you lit a match (or just turned on the light) in the dark room that is the  Men's Rights Movement and Men Going Their Own Way.  These guys are not smart enough to realize there's a light switch, but that's for another day.

I like this article: Five Uncomfortable Truths Behind the Men's Rights Movement

Oh, but now it isn't really his fault. He was scammed, don't you know? He's an unfortunate victim of blackmail. Because when someone asks you to send a pornographic video of yourself, you have to do it. On your work computer.

Because everyone wants themselves a senator who is susceptible to scams in bad English.

Send naked video now!  Did he film the video in his office?  Ewwww!

Or maybe in the restroom of a certain upper Midwestern airport, like a certain former Idaho bathroom goblin and US Senator did.

In any case do I really wanna know the answer to that?  Especially if I want to sleep at night.

He's a good citizen, he didn't give up his virtue easily, the woman had to goad him for half an hour before he agreed to drop his pants. And his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer a week after he told her she is married to a cheating idiot.

It's all good because his faith is stronger than ever. He's apologized to God and his wife. Otherwise he seems rather unrepentant and takes the opportunity to swipe at his fellow senators:

Quote

If constituents in District 2 want an apology, they can contact him and talk to him about it, Kintner said. And he doesn't feel he owes an apology to the Legislature.

He asked what standard he violated to embarrass the institution of the Legislature that would require him to apologize to senators.

Other senators, he said, have acted in ways that apparently did not violate legislative standards: drinking and driving, adultery and affairs, fornication between senators and staff, habitual drunkenness and inflammatory rhetoric that could incite violence against police officers.

"So what standard are all 49 senators held to that I violated?" he asked. "I would love to know."

He is another one of those legislators who was voted into office by God:

Quote

He believes staying is not a political decision but part of God's plan for him, to be an effective advocate in the Legislature and to be a loving husband.

I can't wait for Ernie Chambers (he is the Nebraska Senator who famously sued God ) to take the floor on opening day.

Oh yeah, Ernie's all ready for Kintner...

Omaha Sen. Ernie Chambers called Kintner a "guttersnipe" and a "vulgar hypocrite," and repeated his vow to pursue Kintner's impeachment if he doesn't step down.

Go get him, Ernie!

Well, he's still there and he's not budging, because he's apologized to everybody, God, his wife, just everyone, but there's a threat of impeachment looming.

Quote

Amid threats of impeachment from the legislature's executive board, the outwardly conservative politician whose wife of seven years, Lauren Kintner, is battling ovarian cancer defied the 5 p.m. deadline on Friday set by a legislative committee.

"I have not tried to hide from my sin," the senator said in the letter addressed to his fellow lawmakers.

"I fully understand the gravity of my action and how it reflects upon the fact that I carry the title and responsibility of a state senator. I have taken personal responsibility for my action. I have apologized to God, to my wife, to you and to my constituents."

What is it with these guys that apologizing makes it like IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, and then they act like, "What, I apologized already!  Let's move on!".

And then there's this:

Quote

Earlier this week, at least one senator called attention to the circumstances under which the scandal was brought to light.

While nonetheless disagreeing with his colleague's actions, Sen. David Schnoor told the Fremont Tribune, "He was set up, and he was framed, and he was blackmailed.

So much face palm here.

Kintner is resigning effective Monday. He had another little scandal with Twitter to add to the disgrace. There was no choice now as he was going to be expelled by his colleagues this morning if he did not. Of course, the bipartisan agreement to expel him was really just because of terrible progressives who are out to get him, and he went out in a blaze of refusing to take any responsibility for anything.
