Red State is on On Demand

For $9.99, you can watch Kevin Smith's horror movie about a WBC style church before it is released to theaters on Sept. 23. I haven't watched it yet, but based on the reviews, I don't think it's for the faint of heart. One reviewer said fans of Saw will like it.

Has anyone watched it yet? I want to watch, but I can't handle gore. I don't mind violence, but I can't handle movies that cross over into torture porn territory (like the Saw series, Hostel, Human Centipede). How gory is it? $9.99 is a lot to spend on a movie that I may not be able to finish.

I have AT&T and I don't see it On Demand. I found a featurette about it - we just watched and at the end it said "Order now, On Demand" but we can't find it. :( Looks really good, although we like those Grindhouse types of movies. If it's like that, then I'll enjoy it. If it's like Hostel, then I'll turn it off after 5 minutes. :hand:

I haven't seen it but, for those who want to watch it early, it's also on YouTube for 9.99

I've never paid to watch a movie on there, so I'm not sure how it works exactly, but it keeps showing on my sidebar

It's also on iTunes. I watched it with my apple tv today. It was alright, not worth a 9.99 rental IMO. Kevin Smith really should stick to comedy writing OR directing.

Visually it was stylish and great. The writing was disappointing.

I don't know how much information people will want or if I can spoiler tag information, otherwise I'd write more about it.

The style is really stripped down, so I don't think it would have as much impact on a small screen with distractions available. It's violent in a Tarantino way, not gory, and by the time it takes that turn, you are pretty invested in the story. I don't think I would rent it, but I enjoyed the screening this past spring when it was on tour. John Goodman did a great job, and the last scene is pretty funny if you can hang in there.
