RIP BB kIng He was 89. A true legend. We also lost Jayne meadows, 95, and James Best(aka 'Roscoe P Coltraine') this month.

Yes, he certainly was a legend. NPR played some old interviews in their obit. I didn't know he almost became a gospel musician. He turned to playing blues after noticing the pattern of the people who'd request he a gospel number never put coins in his guitar case. Any word of who gets custody of Lucille?

My hubby plays guitar and was devastated as BB King is one of his idols.

Sadly though, after BB has died, here comes all the posturing, accusations and jockeying for position by the family, as his estate is said to be worth quite a bit.

I too wonder who got Lucille. News sources say the lawyer was selling off everything.

There's more than one Lucille. There's the original, and then Gibson (guitar makers) made a line of Lucilles. BB King had at least one or two of the remake Lucilles, not sure about any others, he may have had more.

The original Lucille should be in a blues museum or something for people to see - I would have liked to have seen the lesser Lucilles to go to people he played with and loved like Kenny Wayne Shepherd, or Derek Trucks or whoever.

It's tow of the daughters claiming he was poisoned. 5 of the 15 kids petitioned the court for more influence over his affairs.
