Do tell

Look at Jinjer's thread. She wrote a book. Derick has been working on his own tell-all for a couple of years now. Allegedly.

I am a former prosecutor (albeit in England)- there is no way I’d let details of my children’s schooling be made public on social media. I know if you’re determined you can find these things out, but Derick’s role means they have to cut back on the information they give and the views they express.
So it will be generic family, cooking, shopping stuff - less of the information about the kids, grifting for funds/gifts and hopefully proselytising.

Do you think Jill could write a book from her POV? I don't see how that could endanger them.

I just realized that Derrick has to be careful with the grifting as well as with their children. Wouldn't want to lay a public prosecutor open to charges that he has been influenced by gifts / bribes.

Jill may be waiting until she’s done healing before written the book. This is my hope at least.

Jill posted an instastory in support of the women in Iran. She's not afraid to take a stand. But it doesn't affect her or her family directly, so it's a little different than tearing down the IBLP. We don't know if she ever mended fences with JB, but a tell-all would certainly estrange them for good.

  • 4 weeks later...

So Joe was willing to face the wrath of Jim Bob to install Rogue Jill’s new kitchen counter backsplash. He’s the head of his own household and is allowed to have his own mind perhaps? Or do we think Derrick enticed him by offering to actually pay him?

I doubt JB gets that mad when his children hang out with Jill. We know Jessa seems to tow the line pretty hard and she still hangs out with Jill.

Yesterday Jill was shilling some wipe-away kids workbook. It was in an instagram story and one of the captions had something about "good for learning at home" or something like that. I'm leaning towards them homeschooling. It makes me sad, I was so happy for those boys to be in public school. I hope they resume it at some point if she is homeschooling now.

I’m guessing they will eventually. There’s no way Jill will homeschool those kids in high school. Probably not even junior high. This might just be a temporary thing.

Yea, they’ve had an awful lot of changes in a very short period of time. Just in the last year - the trial and alllll the publicity and trauma around that, a move to a new town, new job, new baby, and a surgery. That’s a lot to cope with. I could see wanting to take a year or two to homeschool, especially if the kids have also been sick or stressed. So many areas have co-ops where the kids can socialize and do field trips and get the extras, while doing the majority of school work at home, they could be doing something like that. Or just taking time to chill and settle a bit.

If you want a real horror story, watch Jesus camp. It was filmed in 2006, so those children are voting now. I came home one evening, and Mr. Wolf was watching it in disbelief. It's a brainwashing how to. It's on Prime.

My son recommended a couple of years ago that I watch it because he knows I love documentaries.  It's an eyeopener and very scary how they mess with those kids' minds.  The parents are all in too.

Of course, I had to research and see if there were any updates on the kids, and I found them.  One of the kids has left the faith entirely.  The catalyst was his father coming out as gay.   Two others are married and still entrenched.  Another may have strayed for a bit from the faith but it is suspected she returned.  https://thecinemaholic.com/where-are-the-jesus-camp-children-now/

Just came here to check if anyone else noticed that. They (Jill and JB) were not just at the same event, they were clearly interacting. She was sitting on the couch with baby Frederick, and JB was standing next to her. No sign of Derick though.

It’s honestly not that surprising to me. I think Derick is the one who wants nothing to do with JB. I’m sure Jill still loves her father and wants to interact with him in large family settings. Even if things are strained.

I wonder if this was the first time JB was meeting Freddy or if they’ve met earlier. I can’t see Jill at JB’s house or JB at Jill’s house so I’m thinking if they met, there was some other neutral territory event.

This makes me sad. I don’t want anyone at odds with their family unnecessarily, but between it’s likely that Jill is homeschooling and now hanging out with JB… feels like a step backwards.

You can talk to family members you have absolutely nothing in common with and even hostile history at large family gatherings. I have a lot of experiencewith this. I don't take it to mean much at all.

There probably are some positives to the family gatherings that Jill doesn't want herself or the boys to miss out on. This is her family, as flawed and toxic as it is. It isn't really fair or reasonable to expect her to bear the burden of avoiding all family gatherings where JB is present. I am not trying to hand slap any of the wonderful FJ posters. I am writing as a deconstructed mainstream evangelical (where Jill is now). It's a long, hard painful journey.

Jill was Joy’s sister-mom and also her maid of honor. Joy probably specially wanted her there. In addition, family seems to be important to Jill, even with all the history. I’m not surprised she was there.

I’m also not surprised she and Jim Bob managed to put aside their differences for the day. Like my own family, the Duggars as a group don’t seem confrontational. They’ll all be polite to each other at these gatherings, no matter what issues seethe beneath. Disagreements will be hashed out in private.

I went to a friend's funeral this year. My estranged aunt was there. She came up to me and went in for a hug, I gave it to her because it would have been awkward to refuse. We made small talk for 20 minutes.

To an outsider, I am sure it looked like a normal interaction between aunt and niece, but it was only the second time we had been in the same room in over a decade.

Re: homeschooling, didn't someone say the district divides by grade and so there are multiple schools? I would be avoiding that like the plague.

Also, I don't homeschool but did consider buying those work sheets she shilled. We work on those things at home too.

Didn’t John David recently install a backsplash in Jill’s kitchen? Then I saw them together in one part of the video.

Here’s how I think a bit of their conversation may have gone when he was working in her kitchen: Jill mentions Joy’s reveal party, hinting she wants to go but isn’t quite sure how their dad will react. John D says something to the effect that JB seemed to hint that he wouldn’t have a problem with it at all. In fact, I think JB would even use John D as a go-between, sort of mediator to let Jill know he’s mellowed a bit. Jill trusts John D to have her back and decides to go because she’s close with Joy and heck, Jill wants to show off her new baby and how things are working out for her and see everyone, etc.

I agree that JB and Jill might not be chummy, but they’re willing to be cordial at family gatherings.

I come from a big family. All kinds of stuff plays out like this with us, and I know plenty of other families the same way.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
