Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene: The QAnon Lady From GA-14

Figured I'd start a thread for her since we end up frequently discussing her in the other threads.

She's upset that everyone's talking about the platform from the America First Caucus that is currently being formed in the US House.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Proposes Medals For Portland, Minneapolis Police After Opposing Them For Jan. 6 Officers

Quote

Topline

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Tuesday proposed legislation to award congressional gold medals to police who “protect American cities from Black Lives Matter (BLM) terrorists” after voting against awarding them to law enforcement that responded to the Jan. 6 attack.

Key Facts

Greene, in a statement, said three medals would be awarded under her resolution, two to the police departments of Minneapolis and Portland – two cities hit hard during last summer’s protests – and one to the Smithsonian for archival purposes.

The resolution comes on the same day William “Billy” Evans, a Capitol Police officer who was killed in a separate attack on the Capitol earlier this month, lay in honor at the Capitol rotunda.

The resolution would also “stipulate that the Secretary of the Treasury must endorse that the medals will not spend additional taxpayer dollars” by “drawing from the U.S. Medal fund at the U.S. mint.”

The bill is co-sponsored by Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), a member of the right-wing freedom caucus who voted against the Jan. 6 gold medals, and Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.), a freshman, swing-district representative who voted for them.

Key Background

Greene was one of 12 Republicans who voted against a resolution last month to award medals to the Capitol Police and D.C. Metropolitan Police for responding to the Jan. 6 attack, specifically citing the “patriotism and the commitment” of wounded officers. Greene, at the time, took aim at the bill’s use of the word “insurrectionists” to describe the attackers and the description of the Capitol as a “temple of our American Democracy,” while accusing Democrats of wanting to “defund” the police.

[...]

Crucial Quote

Greene’s statement is filled with the kind of incendiary language that has alienated her even from some Republican colleagues, accusing Black Lives Matter of a “terrorist campaign to burn down American cities, loot small businesses and murder citizens” and claiming a “violent rampage rages on in every major city.”

The press release from Taylor Greene's office about her proposal to honor the police departments of Portland and Minneapolis can be found here.

Important to remember at this point that MTG is just getting started.  She'll continue to outrage -- trolling the libs is her brand.

She has no shame, and she is supported by a huge number of people both in her district and across the US for that exact reason.  The things that repel us (Christo-fascism, racism) are the things they find praise worthy and compelling.  She's a very, very dangerous woman.

Marjorie Taylor Greene scraps planned launch of controversial 'America First' caucus amid blowback from GOP

Quote

(CNN) Conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is scrapping the planned launch of her "America First" caucus after receiving blowback from leaders in her own party, despite confirming through a spokesperson on Friday that the caucus would launch.

Nick Dyer, Greene's spokesperson, told CNN in an email on Saturday afternoon the Georgia Republican is not "launching anything."

"The Congresswoman wants to make clear that she is not launching anything. This was an early planning proposal and nothing was agreed to or approved," he said in an email to CNN, referring to a flier promoting the caucus, obtained by Punchbowl News, that used inflammatory rhetoric.

He added that "she didn't approve that language and has no plans to launch anything."

This is a reversal from Friday, when her office said she would launch the caucus "very soon."

"Be on the look out for the release of the America First Caucus platform when it's announced to the public very soon," Dyer said in a statement to CNN Friday.

Greene in a series of tweets Saturday afternoon also claimed that the staff-level draft proposal of her "America First" caucus is "from an outside group that I hadn't read." She also accused the media of creating "false narratives" and focusing on race to "divide the American people with hate through identity politics."

Greene suggested in her tweets she plans to move forward with advocating for former President Donald Trump's America First agenda.

The flier promoting the new caucus calls for a "common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions" and pushes a series of conspiracy theories about election integrity.

The flier also outlined a nativist argument warning that "mass immigration" poses a threat to "the long-term existential future of America as a unique country with a unique culture and a unique identity."

Congressional caucuses are voluntary groups usually made up of lawmakers seeking to advance certain policy agendas. While the groups operate outside of the formal congressional legislative structure, many have found success influencing debate and amplifying their shared policy prescriptions.

On Friday, amid news reports of the caucus, Dyer complained about the initial draft of the flier being leaked but confirmed to CNN in a statement that plans were in the works to form the group, which he said would be "announced to the public very soon."

The reversal from her office comes a day after top House Republican Kevin McCarthy indirectly referenced the congresswoman's new caucus, tweeting, "The Republican Party is the party of Lincoln & the party of more opportunity for all Americans—not nativist dog whistles."

And GOP conference chair Liz Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican, responded to the reporting about the new caucus from Greene in a tweet.

"Republicans believe in equal opportunity, freedom, and justice for all. We teach our children the values of tolerance, decency and moral courage," she wrote. "Racism, nativism, and anti-Semitism are evil. History teaches we all have an obligation to confront & reject such malicious hate."

Embattled GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, who is under federal investigation over allegations involving sex trafficking and prostitution, tweeted Friday, "I'm proud to join @mtgreenee in the #AmericaFirst Caucus. We will end wars, stop illegal immigration & promote trade that is fair to American workers. This is just a hit piece from the America Last crowd in Big Media, Big Tech & Big Government."

GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said that he was "disgusted" following initial reports of the new caucus, and on Friday said that anyone who joins the caucus should have their committee assignments stripped and be expelled from Republican conference participation.

"While we can't prevent someone from calling themselves Republican, we can loudly say they don't belong to us," he wrote on Twitter.

Majorly Failure Greene wanted to debate AOC.  AOC didn't respond herself but the internetz did on her behalf.

Quote

GOP representative Marjorie Taylor Greene trended on Twitter Thursday after publicly challenging fellow congresswoman Alexandria Oscasio-Cortez to a debate on the Green New Deal Wednesday.

“I’d like to challenge you to a debate on the Green New Deal economic policy. Since you sponsored the Green New Deal and have a degree in Economics, I’m sure you are more than qualified,” the Georgia rep wrote to the New York counterpart on Twitter.

While Ocasio-Cortez — a Democrat and prolific tweeter herself who has over 13 million followers on the app — did not respond, a number of political observers and commentators weighed in on her behalf, saying that Ocasio-Cortez was “too busy” to engage with someone “desperately trying to be relevant.”

Political satirist Jeremy Newberger wrote, “I imagine AOC is busy with her committee assignments,” referring to the fact that Taylor Greene had her own committee assignment stripped away in February after her past conspiracy-minded comments and calls for violence against Democrats resurfaced.

She's a public menace: "Rep. Greene aggressively confronts Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, causing New York congresswoman to raise security concerns"

Quote

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene aggressively confronted Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday and falsely accused her of supporting “terrorists,” leading the New York congresswoman’s office to call on leadership to ensure that Congress remains “a safe, civil place for all Members and staff.”

Two Washington Post reporters witnessed Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) exit the House chamber late Wednesday afternoon ahead of Greene (Ga.), who shouted “Hey Alexandria” twice in an effort to get her attention. When Ocasio-Cortez did not stop walking, Greene picked up her pace and began shouting at her and asking why she supports antifa, a loosely knit group of far-left activists, and Black Lives Matter, falsely labeling them “terrorist” groups. Greene also shouted that Ocasio-Cortez was failing to defend her “radical socialist” beliefs by declining to publicly debate the freshman from Georgia.

“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene shouted. “Why do you support terrorists and antifa?”

Ocasio-Cortez did not stop to answer Greene, only turning around once and throwing her hands in the air in an exasperated motion. The two reporters were not close enough to hear what the New York congresswoman said, and her office declined to discuss her specific response.

“Representative Greene tried to begin an argument with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez and when Rep. Ocasio-Cortez tried to walk away, Congresswoman Greene began screaming and called Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer,” Ocasio-Cortez spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said in a statement. “We hope leadership and the Sergeant at Arms will take real steps to make Congress a safe, civil place for all Members and staff — especially as many offices are discussing reopening. One Member has already been forced to relocate her office due to Congresswoman Greene’s attacks.”

Before walking away, Greene said that the encounter was intended to hold Democrats accountable for their policy proposals.

“She’s a chicken, she doesn’t want to debate the Green New Deal,” she said to a small group of reporters and onlookers near the entrance to the chamber. “These members are cowards. They need to defend their legislation to the people. That’s pathetic.”

Greene has been a controversial figure since her 2020 campaign, and Democrats voted to strip her of her committee assignments earlier this year because of extremist statements. Greene has made a number of incendiary and false statements in recent years, among them that Black people “are held slaves to the Democratic Party,” that Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — the first two Muslim women elected to Congress — represented “an Islamic invasion into our government offices,” and that Jewish megadonor George Soros collaborated with Nazis.

She has also expressed support for the radical ideology of QAnon, a sprawling set of false claims that have coalesced into an extremist ideology that has radicalized its followers, some of whom participated in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Her behavior toward Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday was similar to her effort to confront young gun-control activist David Hogg — who survived the 2018 mass shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school — as he walked around the Capitol grounds amid a lobbying push in 2019 for new gun laws. Greene shot cellphone video of the incident.

Greene has also been an outspoken defender of former president Donald Trump and his false claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. Earlier Wednesday, House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from her leadership position for repeatedly speaking out against Trump’s falsehoods, saying she had become a distraction from the party’s efforts to win back the House in the 2022 midterm elections.

This is not the first confrontation Greene has had with a Democratic member of Congress that has caused them to raise safety concerns.

Earlier this year Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) accused Greene and her staff for accosting her in a tunnel beneath a House office building after she asked Greene to wear a mask “out of concern for the health of my staff, other members of Congress, and their congressional staff.” Greene denied the allegation and accused Bush of “lying” and of leading a “terrorist mob” because Bush supported Black Lives Matter.

The incident prompted Bush to ask Democratic leadership if she could move her office away from Greene at a time when the Georgia congresswoman was already under heavy scrutiny for her rhetoric and behavior.

In February, Greene also got into a confrontation with the office of a neighboring congresswoman over transgender rights. After Rep. Marie Newman (D-Ill.) hung a transgender pride flag outside her office in honor of her transgender daughter to push back against Greene’s opposition to legislation that would extend civil rights protections to the LGBTQ community, Greene hung up a poster across the hall that read: “There are TWO genders. MALE & FEMALE. Trust the Science!”

“Thought we’d put up ours so [Newman] can look at it every time she opens her door,” she said in a video.

Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) called Greene’s poster “sickening, pathetic, unimaginably cruel.”

Greene has been a headache for Republican leaders at times, but they have not taken any punitive steps in response to her actions and they decried Democrats voting to take away her committee assignments.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) spoke to Greene before she was removed from her committees and after Republicans started to complain about her attempts to delay routine floor actions, but neither those nor other conversations resulted in punishment.

“Past comments from and endorsed by Marjorie Taylor Greene on school shootings, political violence, and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories do not represent the values or beliefs of the House Republican Conference,” he said in a statement released during the debate over her committee assignments. “I made this clear to Marjorie when we met. I also made clear that as a member of Congress we have a responsibility to hold ourselves to a higher standard than how she presented herself as a private citizen. Her past comments now have much greater meaning. Marjorie recognized this in our conversation. I hold her to her word, as well as her actions going forward.”

Since asking earlier this year to debate Ocasio-Cortez, Greene has confronted her one other time on the House floor, when she approached the New York congresswoman last month to try to schedule a date for a debate over the Green New Deal, a set of environmental policies intended to combat climate change. In a video posted to social media a day later, Greene criticized Ocasio-Cortez for not debating her.

“If she chickens out, then she shows who she really is: a scared little girl that is pretty stupid and doesn’t know anything about the economy or economics,” Greene said.

Speaker Pelosi has commented on Major Failure Greene's actions

Quote

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday that Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's decision to scream at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez outside the House chamber is behavior that may need to be investigated by the House Ethics Committee.

“It's so beyond the pale of anything that is in keeping with bringing honor to the House, or not bringing dishonor to the House. It's so beyond the pale that you wonder ... it probably is a matter for the Ethics Committee,” Pelosi said.

The speaker added, “This is beneath the dignity of a person serving in the Congress of the United States and is a cause for trauma and fear among members, especially on the heels of an insurrection, on which the minority in the committee yesterday denied ever happened.”

Pelosi called Greene’s behavior “egregious” and said that the House Republican Conference should create some sort of “respectable behavior standard for them.”

She called Greene's actions a "verbal assault" and abusive towards AOC.

I hope her conducts earns her a referral to the ethics committee.  Of course the dipshit Republicans probably wouldn't do a goddamn thing about it.

She's a sociopath: "Greene searched Capitol office building for Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, 2019 video shows"

Quote

Less than two years before Marjorie Taylor Greene became a member of Congress, she walked the halls of a congressional office building with a few men searching for a new Democratic congresswoman from New York named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

A deleted video from February 2019 unearthed by CNN shows Greene arriving at Ocasio-Cortez’s office door to find it locked. She, and the men with her, then taunt the congresswoman’s staff through a mail slot and defile her guest book, all while mocking Ocasio-Cortez.

“You need to stop being a baby and stop locking your door and come out and face the American citizens that you serve,” Greene said. “If you want to be a big girl you need to get rid of your diaper and come out and be able to talk to the American citizens instead of just having to use a flap, a little flap, it’s kind of like crazy. Sad.”

One of the men in Greene’s group, Anthony Aguero, was inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 when supporters of former president Donald Trump stormed the building, according to CNN. In the 2019 video, Greene says more conservatives should come to Washington and confront lawmakers.

“I mean, this is a woman that’s deeply unwell. And clearly needs some help,” Ocasio-Cortez said Friday when asked about the video. “Her kind of fixation has lasted for several years now.”

Greene defended the video as taxpayers “walking around and talking to lawmakers.” She also continued to label Ocasio-Cortez and other congresswomen of color as terrorists and the “JihadSquad.” Greene claimed that she was the real victim of harassment.

The video has surfaced days after Greene, now a Republican congresswoman from Georgia with full rein of the Capitol, verbally accosted Ocasio-Cortez outside the House chamber Wednesday and derided her for ignoring Greene’s demand that the two women debate.

On Friday, tensions surrounding Greene continued to run high when her spokesman, Nick Dyer, had a heated confrontation with Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) over the congressman wearing a mask indoors. Dyer says he used a “jovial tone” when he told Swalwell, “Biden said you can take off your mask.” The congressman then confronted Dyer and used an expletive, telling the aide not tell him what to do.

The two incidents with Ocasio-Cortez are also reminiscent of another video of Greene that showed her harassing a teenager outside the Capitol. David Hogg, who became a national gun control advocate after a mass shooting at his high school in Parkland, Fla., was on Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers.

Democrats have decried Greene’s past social media posts and “likes” that endorsed violence against Democratic politicians, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former president Barack Obama.

Earlier this year, after social media posts surfaced of Greene seemingly endorsing the execution of Democratic politicians, the House voted to strip her of her committee assignments but did not vote to expel her as some Democrats have demanded.

In tweets responding to the video, Ocasio-Cortez accused House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) of protecting Greene and wrote that if she behaved like Greene, the Republicans “would be calling for my expulsion.”

In the video, Greene talks to the camera as they approach Ocasio-Cortez’s office.

“We’re going to go see, we’re going to visit, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Crazy eyes. Crazy eyes. Nutty. Cortez,” Greene says. She repeatedly refers to the Democrat’s office as a “day care” and jeers at the colorful sticky notes with messages of support that people leave outside Ocasio-Cortez’s office.

“We’re your employers, we’d like to come in and inspect your office,” one of Greene’s friends says through the mail slot.

“You can’t stay in there forever. Can you come out and play?” a man says.

The group eventually gives up, claiming security had warned the office ahead of time that they were coming. Before the video shuts off, Greene says they’re going to visit two other freshman Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), the first Muslim women elected to the House and two members of what is known as the “Squad” with Ocasio-Cortez.

“Hey, look as a woman I do not want to have to wear a burqa one day,” Greene says. “I want to ask them what they are thinking and why they’re serving in our American government. They really should go back to the Middle East.”

She also says that she’s bringing a Bible and is planning to ask them to retake their oath of office because they swore in on the Koran.

She says that AOC has "Crazy eyes". Um, I guess she was looking in a mirror and got confused. MTG has some of the craziest eyes ever seen.
