New Orleans/Louisiana Alphabet

As some of you know, I am doing an alphabet baby afghan for my husband's co-worker. I have realized, once again, how much I enjoy doing the alphabet afghans and now I'd really like to chart my own alphabet about New Orleans and Louisiana.  Anybody have suggestions for various letters? Such as A is for Alligator? B is for beads and what else?

That's a cute idea! I've actually never been to NO, but here are some things I think of:

B: Bourbon Street or Beignets or Big Easy

C: Crawfish or Creole or Canal Street or Cajun

E: Etouffee

F: French Quarter

G: Gumbo

H: Humidity

J: Jamalaya or Jazz

L: Lousiana or levee or Lake Ponchartrain or Louis Armstrong

M: Mardi Gras or Muffaletta

O: Oysters

P: Po-boy or Pelicans

R: Rampart Street or red beans and rice

S: Saints or Superdome (though I don't know if I'd use that one after Katrina)

T: Treme or Tulane

V: Voodoo

X: Xavier University

Thank you!!! I can probably do as many as 3-5 things per letter, depending on size.  After talking to family in Louisiana this morning, said afghan is going to be a gift for my favorite Auntie.
