The Little Pebble: Apocalyptic Marian Visionary and Sex Offender

William Kamm, AKA the Little Pebble of New South Wales, claims to be a visionary who has been receiving messages from the Virgin Mary since he was eighteen in 1983. He built up a community of followers called the Order Of St. Charbel that was supposed to be following mainstream Catholicism, but it became an excuse for Kamm to amass a private harem:

It was acting on this belief that led him to being convicted of several sex offences in the mid-2000s, sentenced to 10 years jail for having sex with two 15-year-old girls. Kamm, known as the 'Little Pebble', was granted parole in 2014, and has recently appeared in a new video where he talks about aspirations to start a new political party and of the conditions in Goulburn jail.

Kamm says God told him of a coming apocalypse, and that he, Kamm, would lead the survivors through as Pope. He would also have to repopulate the world with the help of the 84 queens and princesses. The Order of St Charbel -- located in a quiet part of Cambewarra, two and a half hours south of Sydney, and established in the 1980s -- was his own, a sect following Catholic beliefs but later disendorsed by the church. He convinced dozens to follow him, with a "Royal House" established where he fathered at least 20 children, according to reports.

Kamm has recently been released from prison, after serving nine years for abusing a fifteen year old girl, and has gone back to doing what he knows best. His website is very active, and according to him, the earth is about to be annihilated by an asteroid, and that nuclear weapons are being deployed in vain to stop it, a fact that no other news agency seems to have knowledge of.

As to the oncoming asteroid thing.  Is this to lend urgency to the need to have sex with many women?  Does he need to have sex with and impregnate a bunch of women to save the earth? Lazamercy, and he's just one man.  How fucking selfless can a guy be?

If he has to repopulate the earth you would think God would realize the need for more males so that everyone isn't related to each other...or maybe that's the goal.

This is something I don't understand either; the earth is about to end via asteroid or whatever the disaster of the week is, but dude has to have a bajillionty kids to rule the world anyway. David Koresh said the same thing with his "House of David" doctrine that said that he needed 24 children who would rule the earth after the Second Coming. Why do these cult leaders always insist that their "seed" is so superior to that of the next guy?

I just don't get why people fall for this stuff.  The whole point of the second coming is to NOT be here after - and if he is still here, he's got bigger problems than how many kids he's got.

What I don't understand is how Kamm was able to build this kind of cult among conservative Catholics. Unlike the Branch Davidians who believed in a "sinful Messiah" or fundamentalist Mormons and their belief in the need to have plural wives to enter the Celestial Kingdom, conservative and traditionalist Catholics place a high value on their leaders being celibate. The various Marian apparitions at Fatima, Lourdes, etc. that conservative and traditionalist Catholics love emphasis the need for all people to be chaste according to their state in life. Once Kamm started claiming that Mary was telling him he needed a harem, something that was completely at odds with not just with all previous Vatican approved seers but also with Catholic moral theology, you'd think that would be a sign to his followers that they weren't in a mainstream Catholic group anymore. Or maybe by that time, Kamm had essentially claimed that he had his own church. I wish there was more information about the Little Pebble and his flock, but most articles seem to just focus on his sex abuse convictions, rather than why people were attracted to Kamm's teachings in the first place.
