To counteract the other hyperbolic thread of least favorite foods (aka, I would rather STARVE), maybe we should talk about our favorites!

Disclaimer: Hyperbole ahead. I'd much prefer a well-rounded diet.

  • Sushi, Sashimi, dried seaweed, and "wasabi" paste
  • Beer
  • Chardonnay
  • Scotch
  • Steak cooked RARE
  • Jalapenos on things that are appropriate for jalapenos
  • Tacos (corn shell please)
  • lima beans (I'm not even joking. I love lima beans.)

Dark chocolate

Spicy Thai food (basil, lemongrass, coconut, chili please)

Cheese (not that tasteless rubber stuff. I want proper bitey, crumbly aged cheddar)

Potatoes - mashed, fried, baked, chips, all the potatoes please.

Pizza

Bread

Cheese

Pickled (almost) anything

Fresh fruit

I laughed entirely too hard at this.

Someone (maybe DGayle, maybe someone else) will probably come along and remind us that food is food, and having preferences is a privilege. Said person is much better than us heathens and is lacking in tastebuds is always pleased with whatever is available and life sustaining.

Aww. I'm an Aussie but I spent some time in California a few years ago. I stayed in Cambria and LOVED it. Moonstone Beach, sigh....

I can't, my list is too long and esoteric. I love spicy food and ethnic foods and am quite adventurous - minus the cilantro and offal.

I think I really want to try poutine. It sounds so deliciously unhealthy that I'd dive right in.

Good bread and good cheese, with a bit of chocolate for dessert.

Ultimately, a piece of slightly running camembert, good bread and a nice red wine is all I need!

Oh I love this foodie threads!

Seafood. All types of. I haven´t found yet a species I wouldn´t eat. And I love the texture of raw fish.

Raw beefsteak.

Balsamico and styrian pumpkin seed oil

Melon

Mint

Fresh, still warm Farmer´s bread with butter

Violets (Violet syrup, violet sorbet or violet chocolate from Bachhalm - I really could solely live on this stuff)

Basically everything that is sweet and fluffy like mousse, soufflé , meringue desserts

So that´s my favorites, but I am not much of a picky eater otherwise. And a good glass of red wine goes with everything ;)

Regarding food appreciation there isn't much difference between the Italians (or any Mediterranean for that matter) and the French, is there?

@latraviata, I just recognized you as a fellow Foie gras lover. I like that!

ad veal: we don´t have it often in our house, but when my mum makes Viennese Schnitzel (which is with veal, and veal only) it is SO GOOD!

There's a lot of really yummy things on these list.

Sushi - though I'm not very adventurous with it. Though I have friends that soybean having it on my list is "adventurous" enough.

Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai dishes

A rare steak, "Chicago style"

Loaded stuffed baked potatoes

Tim Hortons coffee

And now I'm hungry LOL.
