Why does it seem like all the worst stuff is coming from Arkansas, Tennessee, or Oklahoma? Is it just me? Are they competing with Texas and Florida for the worst news coverage possible?

See what bothers me most about this is the call to love him. He's a youth pastor with youth porn. If I had a young person who had been in his youth group, it's pretty certain that this youth pastor looked at my child in an inappropriate way and hopefully nothing more.

So why would I want to jump right on loving and forgiving him?

An Arkansas youth pastor is facing child pornography charges after his wife reportedly found images of underage girls on his computer and turned them over to police.

When he was confronted by his wife, she said that he admitted having a child pornography addiction for more than 20 years.

Senior Pastor Matt Smith told KAIT that Waller was fired as soon as the allegations came to light. [Waller] had worked at the church since 1999.

“First of all to the best of our understanding, the allegations against Mr. Waller don’t involve anything with our church as far as we know,†Smith said.

I'm glad to see that the wife isn't defending him, at least. That's a good trend. It's a start.

Or she didn't want to get in trouble herself. Or she's known for awhile that something is wrong and she turned him in as a last ditch effort to get him to pay attention to the problem. Or she knew something was wrong and it was revenge.

I've been watching Jeb Bush fire up his campaign. It's amazing how people use the term "Christian" as though its an infallible suit of armor to protect them from everything and justify anything.

Also, I can't imagine what your husband had to see while he worked. My thanks to him for battling the dark side. I bet he wishes he had something stronger than brain bleach.

Treemom, my thanks to your husband also. Do you or he happen to know - of the males who self-identify as straight, around what percent are found with photos of boys vs. girls? I'm assuming there's typically a strong preference for one or the other, though I won't be too surprised if I'm wrong. I'm also figuring if they claim to be Christian they probably also claim to be straight.

That's very interesting. Are those men driven to it by their white middle class lifestyle or do they choose that as the best way to hide their addiction from the world. Is that the best way to get access.

And why would it not be seen in poor black men or wealthy white men? My guesses there would be based on economics - poor men would not have such ready access to Internet (presuming that's where most of it exists) and wealthy men possess the power to either not get caught or buy their way out of trouble.

And white men don't buy their way out of trouble for child porn. Every single guy they charged went to federal prison. Local, possibly...but for the federal crime? Nope.
