 I'm completely gobsmacked. I can't even pick my jaw up from the floor.

They're all pretty horrific, but three and four. And eight and ten. :wtf: How can these people not see how this looks?

A few things:

1. That photographer needs to learn the value of shade

2. Why so many closed eyes? A few of those pictures wouldn't be so creepy if their eyes were open.

3. What in the hell are children under 10 doing at a purity ball?

Agreed. The only one that I thought looked halfway normal was 7, but that's because the kids were so little and cute that it looks like a picture of flower girls or maybe First Communion. I just gets creepy if you are told that it's about purity balls, because the idea of obsessing over whether your very little girls will have sex before marriage is really bizarre.

I agree. 7 was the only one that looked appropriate by regular standards, and 2 is maybe okay because it doesn't look like a wedding or engagement shot. But the rest? CREEPY.

Ew, ew, ew, ew!!!!!!!

I think it's the hand on the stomach/pregnancy photo shoot pose that makes me most nauseated.

The thing about bad prom photos is that you eventually look back to laugh at how bad your hair/dress/makeup was and how dorky your date looked in a bad tie and borrowed shiny shoes. And of course you giggle about the bad setting, bad lighting and totally weird pose.

HOWEVER--these are photos with a date, and that makes the weirdness pretty funny. Posed prom pictures with your father as your date are just plain freaky! (I think I need a shower.)

I think I'm going to throw up. Which is an indication of how horrifying these are, considering I enjoy Victorian post-mortem photography. I'll take dead babies over creepy daddies any day. *shudder*

I hear you, though the ones with the teens look exactly like how the photographers posed girls and their dads for Father Daughter Dinner Dance at our run off the mill, post-Vatican II Catholic high school. I think dance type photographers don't know how to pose people any other way.

I can't deal with the constant mention of sex and hymens and all that shit around LITTLE FREAKING GIRLS.

Woo boy the commenter A. Packard is a bit off?

I know, right!? He's clearly got an issue with premarital sex = porno whore. That and he says these aren't incestuous or wrong, then later says that they are odd.

He seems like a tool as well.

Actually, to me the ones with the younger children weren't QUITE as creepy just because...

The only one that I thought looked halfway normal was 7, but that's because the kids were so little and cute that it looks like a picture of flower girls or maybe First Communion.

...this interpretation can kick in. They look like kids who might be at a more normal "Daddy daughter dance" or just formal outing, who are young enough not to think of this as a DATE or realize that if they were living in the normal world they'd be at prom with someone their own age.

Posed prom pictures with your father as your date are just plain freaky!

EXACTLY. The older girl pics creep me out the most because you KNOW they're old enough to know what this is about and what it looks like. In any normal world they'd be going to prom or a community dance with someone their own age, when they wear those clothes.

At 7 going out with Dad is going out with Dad. Let's get ice cream. At 17? It's weird. You know what a date is.

ETA: I should say, going out with Dad alone dressed in a prom dress, that is. Just regular going out with Dad, still fine. Let's just get more ice cream and chat. But I just can't imagine listening to whatever speeches about purity with Dad there in a fancy date dress, at 17. Just ew. The little kids you at least can imagine they don't know all about what's behind it...

That last picture made me think of those old timey photos where they took pictures of dead people. Something about that girl's closed eyes, general paleness, and the creepy factor...

Word.

Those poses seem rather predator/prey. And yes, they have a sensual and slightly sexual overtone. The combo of this and the death look reminds me of Dr Creeperpants and his Elena...

Nsfw....involves necrophilia

None of them were smiling which just adds to the creepy vibe. You'd hope that the subjects would look at the pictures and realize that - "Hey, this just looks bad. We won't be doing that again." But no, they'd probably be all proud and hang a framed version in the living room. Icky.

These are just really odd and disturbing.

#1 - looks like a wedding photo. Those two could be newlyweds.

#2 - she looks just as grim as her father does. Can't tell if they're being smug or irritated.

#3 - I didn't know Foxface from The Hunger Games movie went to a purity ball and took pictures with her dad. Weirdness is further compounded when you realize the girl's dress sorta looks similar to the one Foxface wore in the film.

#4 - No. Just, no. He shouldn't be putting his hands on his daughter's belly as if she were pregnant.

#5 - She looks like she's desperately trying to pretend her dad isn't even in the frame.

#6 - This one's almost sweet, except for the fact that she's wearing a wedding dress and is so young. Squicky, indeed.

#7 - This is the only one that looks normal to me. The girls could easily be getting their first communion, and look bored and tired after a long day. Too bad it's actually a purity ball photo.

#8 - Looks like the sun is in her eyes, but maybe she's hoping she'll fly away or burst into flames. Any way you slice it, girl looks like she'd rather be just about anywhere else.

#9 - This one disturbs me the most. The girl, with her unhappy face, looks like she wants nothing to do with her father and like she is actually trying to get away from him. Very creepy.

#10 - Both father and daughter look extremely young here. If I hadn't known these were purity ball photos, I would have thought this was a young newlywed couple with very few years between them.

1) Were they just married?

2) Neither of the look interested in being there.

3) This is the type of shot where you expect a baby to be on the way.

4) Same as 3.

5) She looks like she wants to run away, and her father is forcing her to be there.

6) Something about this one is very sad.

7) Daddy looks like a pompous ass.

8) Another pregnancy pose.

9) That girl doesn't want to be there. She's not comfortable. Look how she's leaning away. This one is extremely disturbing. I hope that she's not a statistic, if you know what I mean.

10) Such a lovers' pose.

1) I wonder what the setup was. This looks like a desert-type area.

2) Closed eyes means there's no one in the world but the people in the photos.

3) Never too early to teach girls that their value is based on who has been near their vaginas.

When I was about 17, 18, 19 years old, my dad and I went on a few "dates." They were formal work-related events my mom had no interest in attending, and since I knew several of the people there and we liked each other (platonic way - we were all into the same sports teams and we very much like family), I went. It was fun to dress up and have an evening with my dad. But it definitely wasn't anything related to sex. It was like going to dinner in dress-up stuff.

What crosses the line is the intent of these daddy-daughter dates. The focus is literally on the vaginas of kids.
