Parents are dealers of porn to preteens

It is a rather silly mixed metaphor, but I think that the original author is not totally off base for wanting to limit or control the internet usage of young teens. Had I children of that I age, I think I would discuss the issue with them rather than spying or blocking sites, but the desired effect is the same.

Stopped clocks and all that. I also don't think it is unreasonable to limit what sort of access your young teen has on the Internet. Not because I think porn is a huge issue, but because I think malware absolutely is, and because even otherwise sensible individuals can reveal way too much online and the trick of knowing how much to share takes time to develop. A little supervision can be very helpful.

Obviously you'd loosen the reins as they get older.

I marvel how these holy people with their pure hearts and minds constantly accuse worldly people of being hung on porn, even if they are just mere children.

What if I told you that most children play games, watch videos, read gossip and they think about porn and sex in general ridiculously less than you, holy fundies.

Heck, I forgot. They use the internet to do homework, to. I know it sounds incredible.

Really good point about the malware - I was hanging out with a few of my younger cousins last year and the 7 year old went on the computer to play games at her favorite website. The games themselves were harmless, but the site was riddled with pop-ups and "Click on this button to claim your million dollar prize!" ads and I cringed because I just knew that the computer could very well have viruses and such thanks to that, particularly if she accidentally clicked on a link.

I know that as a kid I tended to believe that everyone was telling the truth and so I'd probably believe the "I'm another kid, want to be penpals/e-friends" ruse without realizing that the other person could be lying. I'd say that most kids would also probably be the same, so it's very important for parents to talk to their kids about internet danger. My parents did just that and as a result when a stranger sent a highly inappropriate email to my inbox when I was around 13 or so, I went running straight to my mom and dad to let them handle it.
