Rick Santorum has picked up a new career. The 55-year-old politician is now the CEO of Echolight Studios, a faith-based film company. He announced it on Huckabee's tv show last night.

"Many of you have heard me talk about that if we are going to make a positive impact on our country's cultural challenges, we have to do it by reaching the masses often through entertainment," Santorum said in a release. "For too long, Hollywood has had a lock on influencing the youth of this country with a flawed message that goes against our values. Now, we can change that."

Stay tuned .....

Gay porn. I KNEW it!

In fundie circles, this is called "an inspiring movie about a hazardous journey for manly men only" :D

Oh, Ricky--the only masses you're going to reach with preachy, mediocre movies are the ones who already agree with you. Which is why I'll gladly congratulate you on your new job and wish you all the best at it; it will get you out of our hair and away from any sort of political power, and that can only be a good thing.

Well this is good news. I would prefer him making lameass movies that dimwits drag their kids to see then to run for office. The only people influenced by these awful Christian movies are people who have already turned fundie-- everyone else laughs at their craptastic acting and story lines.

"We'll make hating gays and 1950s housewifery cool again using breakdancing and that new rock n roll beat!!"

Edited for riffles

It should be profitable if he can keep the costs low. He has a built-in audience willing to see those kinds of movies over and over again. In the past, Christian-themed movies have been notoriously bad films and subtle as a rock. So is he going to make quality films or dreck? My guess they will be the same dreck that Kirk Cameron is involved in...bad movies that don't cross over to the mainstream.

That is so true. I have noticed that with the many of the people who are Sherwood Pictures fans. I get the feeling that Frothy might try to push for more Catholic themed type movies. The only Catholics who would watch those types of movies are ultra conservative Catholics.

I can only pray this results in some SNL snark worthy of Tina Fey's Palin.

Still so ashamed to be from the same state as frothy...

I think they should have a sitcom about some guy who wears a sweater vest a lot and isn't very likable. Just sayin'.

Aren't there Bates and Duggar boys who dream of filmmaking? Future Echolight Studios interns!

Maybe he could employ Ex-Gay Greg and Dede in video "ministry" and give them housing and a stipend that will cover their food and deodorant, to give their family a break.

Glad to hear he won't be running for office again. I can ignore bad films easily, I can't ignore a lunatic running for president.

Ooh, you just gave Doug Phillips is a tool the tingles.

So Frothy Mix is getting into the movie business. Yea, I'm sure Steven Spielberg is quaking in his boots.

I'm very disappointed that the film company is not called Frothy Productions.

I wanted to design the logo.
