That's what irritates me. There are plenty of things you can do if you're really committed to helping out your country - join the army, volunteer to mentor underprivileged children, cut out as many luxuries as you can in order to donate to a good cause. But these are 'big' things. They require a certain amount of sacrifice.

I'm not expecting the prayer fetishists to join the army, or even mentor a kid for a few hours a fortnight. But to spend an entire day praying and listening to bigots speak, to do that and claim that you're doing this as a matter of patriotism and pride? So wrong. Get out your workboots and head next door to ask your elderly neighbour with arthritis and a bad back if you can tidy up his garden, mow the lawn and nail down the loose boards on the verandah. He's going to be a lot more grateful for the help than Jesus will be for an onslaught of hypocrisy prayers.

This.

I also think that some Christians are offended at the idea of acknowledging non-Christian religions in the US, or even those Christians who are part of their church. If they claim to be Christian, then they would help out the poor and others in need as that's what the person they say they worship did.

They are the worst kind of christian. full of hate and judgment and self righteousness. no caring or helping or peace or understanding. All hell and no holy.

They should have named it "A Miniscule Minority of America for a Certain Interpretation of Jesus 2012" to be wholly accurate.

I always love how these people say "European socialism" as if it's sooo-ooo-oooo bad. Makes me wonder what they think living in Europe is like.

Cue screams as I am carted off to the gulags they no doubt think the UK is rampant with.

I guess they dislike socialism because they are greedy bastards who dislike higher taxes. I do not see high taxes as just an investment in my society, but in myself as well. As long as I live in the society, and not outside of the society, it should be in my interest to see the society function as well as possible.
