there's going to be a segment about "a new approach to education puts the focus on character." Could this be about Gothard's infiltration into public schools?

The program spoken about is called GRIT. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Eh, some of the buzzwords are the same ("character"), but it seems more secular.

It seemed like the people promoting it wanted to be the leaders of their own movement, not following somebody else's.

  Snake in the house.
  Late last night as I was loading the dishwasher, a noticed a streak of black along the bottom of the cupboards under the cooktop. I did not think my cabinet bottoms were that dirty and so I tried to get a closer look. It began to move and it became apparent that it was a little SNAKE!!!! I got my husband up and let him deal with the snake. After all, he'd belonged to a snake club in high school and had first come to SC on a club trip to collect snakes. He put the baby snake outside where it belonged.
  @Kiki03910, I'd love to see a bobcat walking past my window and will take that anyway over a baby snake in the kitchen!

  HOLY SHIT, YOU GUYS. A bobcat just walked by my living room window. It didn't even deign to look inside! I love living on the edge of open desert and am also slightly terrified lol.
