Pastor Kim Burrell claimed that homosexuality is an “evil spirit” and that it “embarrasses the kingdom of God”.

She also blamed gay men for the spread of AIDS in the tirade which was posted on YouTube yesterday.

Burrell is a well known pastor, having featured on a song with Pharrell Williams called “I see a Victory”.

She is also due to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show on January 5th.

In the video, the preacher says: “Anybody in this room who is filled with the homosexual spirit, pray God to free you. You’re playing with it in 2017, you’ll die from it.”

She also called homosexuality a perverted act.

“That perverted, homosexual spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion. If you, as a man, will open your mouth and take a man’s penis in your face, you are perverted.

“If you are a woman and you shake your breasts in another woman’s face, you are perverted,” she added.

Following the release of the video, Burrell has taken to Facebook live to apologise for her action. However, the apology is half hearted eat best as she continues to preach that homosexuality is a sin.

“I never said LGBT last night, I said S.I.N – and whatever falls under sin is what was preached. I have to do what God tells me to do… and when people take it personal, especially if we’ve never met, you know that the enemy is setting that up.”

“To every person that [sic] is dealing with the homosexual spirit that has it, I love you because God loves you, but God hates the sin,” she said.

That's... an interesting set of examples to use... almost as if she has no idea what lesbians actually DO...

Interesting. I happen to think that her religious spirit is a spirit of delusion and confusion.  Difference is, I don't rave about it and call for her to die because of it. Perhaps some atheists are a great deal more loving and compassionate (attributes I assume her God would appreciate) than some Christians, yes?

Oh, dear, silly, @lawfulevil!  She's a PASTOR so she know all about the breast shaking and inserting of penii in faces, and all that stuff.  I imagine she is also well aware that homosexuality is a choice and all that needs to be done is renounce one's entire sense of identity and love people who are within the rigid groups (2) of which she approves.  She is extremely enlightened about it, obviously, because bible.

And she's supposed to appear on Ellen? I guess since Ellen is... rather less endowed in the chest region, she's okay in Ms. Homophobe's mind? Thankfully, Ellen DeGeneres has a decent history of not ignoring that kind of nonsense from her guests.

It's much easier to stir up hate when you create imaginary examples and ignore the reality that the LGBT community are just regular people living normal lives. It's much harder to whip people into a zealous frenzy if they realize that most lesbians are spending their days going to work, shopping at the grocery store, relaxing with their families and friends, etc. instead of running around trying to forcefully seduce unwilling Christians (and some of them even ARE Christians!)

How on Earth does she know that group of people are all going to die in same year? Are we dealing with another self-declared prophet? And how does she imagine it - will glitter fall from the sky and drown every LGBT+ individual on planet?

That was my immediate thought. For all that she's raving about "sin," she seems to have put an awful lot of thought into imagining specific sexual acts that gay people might engage in...

Speaking for myself, there are various sexual acts that do not appeal to me. As long as it's between consenting adults I don't have a problem with it, it's just not for me and imagining it is unpleasant. So I don't imagine it. I just let people do their own things behind closed doors and don't think too deeply about the specifics. 

The fact that she's coming up with these fairly detailed scenarios makes me think she maybe doesn't mind thinking about it as much as she claims she minds.

We were in a Pride parade a few months ago and, of course, there was an anti-gay preacher with a mega-phone doing his christian civic duty.  He was soooo detailed, that I think some of the crowd was aroused in ways he perhaps did not intend.  He certainly did his research, and again I wonder how much time these sorts spend thinking about this "forbidden" subject matter.  

This is a pretty common theme with these homophobic sorts -- they toss and turn all night thinking in great detail about how sinful it is.

One of my gay friends is a devout Episcopalian who went to seminary and is  very knowledgeable on matters of theology and the Bible. One of the most compassionate, kind souls I've ever met-- will give you the shirt off his back. This guy is a WAY better Christian  than this lady and her ilk ever will hope to be. So pffft, Burrell, you hateful wench.

Another article on this. Pharrell Williams released a statement saying he condemns hate speech. Burrell and Williams sang a duet for the upcoming movie, Hidden Figures. Octavia Spencer and  Janelle Monáe are also condemning Burrell.
