Youth Evangelist arrested twice for impersonating cops

Here's an odd story out of Bama (shocking, I know.)

Youth evangelist and founder of The Basement youth ministry, Matt Pitt, was arrested last year and again this year for impersonating police:

It was deja vu from September 2012, when Pitt previously landed in court on a charge of impersonating a police officer. That time, Calera police officers filled the court, making sure that Pitt apologized to them for what they felt had been disrespectful behavior after they arrested him for flashing blue lights on Interstate 65 to speed through traffic as he and other friends from The Basement headed for a beach trip to Destin, Fla., in May 2012.

They let him off with a warning and a year's probation because, you know, he does so much good in the community. Now he's been arrested again for flashing a sheriff's badge at some guy who found his rifle laying on the ground in the woods, where kids could have found it. He also tried to elude police by jumping 35 feet off an embankment and rolling into traffic:

Never fear, though. According to the guy's parents, it's all part of God's plan.

Pitt's parents chose to put a biblical spin on their son's troubles.

"If you read through the Bible, different testimonies of different situations, a lot of men went through a lot of situations," Larry Pitt said. "God's got a plan and I know he'll prevail on this."
