Institute in Basic Life Principles Refresh - Detox

I came across the following site. It is for former Gothard/ATI/IBLP members to detox and not bash Gothard.

http://iblpdetoxDOTcom/

The author/owner of the site is Anna Duggar's brother in law. It is very well written and interesting. Hope it helps those people struggling to find their way and some meaning in a post ATI/IBLP world.

That looks like an excellent site for those questioning ATI.

I hope he mails Anna printouts of that site every day, hoping one or two will make a difference.

Its interesting and the fact he's still a very conservative christian will probably encourage some borderline people, more than if it was written by someone not formerly from the fold or someone writing an expose.

However, this paragraph on "The Schooling Dilemma" really bothers me:

Recent polls in America and the UK have shown that the average age of attendees in conservative churches is over the 40 year mark. This fact that fewer young adults are attending church is an indicator of our spiritual status globally. Christianity is losing ground with the young adult crowd. Sin is accepted and is rampant. Young people do not sense the urgency to attend church. The primary reason is caused simply by their lack of relationship with God: most are not saved. Without the influence of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, there is no hope for social morality to develop toward holiness.

Looks like he posted a new blog entry yesterday. It's pretty long but interesting.

Do you have to register to view the posts? So far I'm only seeing two, and no matter what I click along the sidebar there is still only those two posts.

Nope, you don't need to register. I would try again, because it looks like he filled out a lot of stuff in the past few days, so maybe it had made his site wonky.

In the 'other FAQ' section he appears to be taking questions (that aren't Duggar or Anna-specific). Seems like he'd be a prime person to ask about whether 're-education' actually goes on (I'm headed out myself, though).

What do people do in the Sonoran desert? I've hiked the hikes I wanted to do. Seems like all that is left is golf, shopping at chains that exist everywhere, and stuff I've done. Oh and eating. I can only eat so many times a day. It's too cold to rent a paddleboard or swim.

First snow storm of the season hit today. It got windy tonight, and we lost power. Somehow this continues to be a shock to PSE. Why they refuse to upgrade the infrastructure or do something so that 10s of thousands of people don’t lose power and heat literally every time it’s windy, I do not understand. We live in the Pacific Northwest. It gets windy!

Nebraska's new football coach is an evangelical bullshit artist who participates in "Man Up Ministries" conferences in the off season. Their motto is "Fighting for Biblical Manhood". Excuse me while I go vomit.

      Long time no visit…
COVID has finally caught up with me. Dad tested positive first, last Friday, then my mother, brother and I all tested positive today. Main symptom is feeling really really tired. Hopefully it doesn’t get much worse 🤞

      Do I wear it?
i was given a vintage, 70 year old mink coat. It fits like it was made for me. Somehow my cousin, who is 8 years older than me came into 3 gorgeous fur coats from a granddaughter of a woman her mother knew. We’re talking women who died in the mid 60’s.  None of them would fit her or any other of the women in my family. Yay for essentially being a ball. Everyone else is about 5’7 or more and all outweigh me by 50+.

it is just gorgeous. What women in Skokie and Highland Park many years ago, when I still lived there would call a “serviceable” fur. It was the fur they’d wear to a good restaurant, but not the opera or symphony.
do I wear it? I’d love to, and I live in hunting country so fur isn’t looked down on. But is it wrong?  Arrrgh god its pretty.

A modern day love story: Guy reaches out to you, you think he's cute so you start talking to him, give him your number. Guy then messages if you're free, you reply yes, guy never responds again. Love that. 👌
