[Four is Enough]

In response to the "can parents change the names of the foster child?" NO. However, they can be changed at adoption. Three and Four both changed their middle and their last names. Last name to "Four", middle names of their choosing. However, they both kept their first name (THree bears my godfather's name, which is a rare one, and I may have influenced him a wee bit on that, but it suits him) at the adoption, which happened after they were with us for over a year.

I think it's a good thing that foster kids names cannot be changed. I think they are having a hard enough time at adjusting, they don't need to go through more trauma namewise. And you know if Jessa changed their name it would be horribad!

According to a video in People Jessa is planning for another home birth.  Hope it ends better than the last one. I'm hoping she consulted with doctors before making this decision.

My birth name was a Bertha Elizabeth (a family name, but still talk about cruel), but I've been called Betsy since I was a newborn which of course is one of the many short versions for Elizabeth. I hated Bertha (can you blame me), but I wanted to keep some ties to my biological family. I chose Elizabeth Victoria (Victoria was my bio mom's name).

Bertha Is my mom's birth name - also a family name. She also hated it (and was teased in elementary school) so has gone by her middle name ever since.

Yay! Yes, Betsy is pretty rare. I'm not a fan of nicknames so both my kids have names that don't have variations or can be shortened. Neither of their names are very common (we could never find things with their names on them). They both have "P" names, but only because we liked those names. [emoji39]

I want to add to the adoption conversation that I would never Change a child's name even if I adopted the child as an infant. If they want to change their name, that's fine. But I don't feel that's a call I should make for them. Of course if they came without a name then that is a different matter. But if they already have a name, I would keep it. Even if it's a name I don't care for.
