Doug thinks his fans were born yesterday.

His 17 Aug blogpost claims Abercrombie&Fitch stock plummeted because A&F issued a statement distancing itself from"JerseyShore" celebrities.

Honestly,Doug? Your followers don't know that stocks across the boards are falling?

Maybe they don't. Who knows. . .

I don't know what it is with fundies and Abercrombie & Fitch. Some fundie colleges (I believe Bob Jones is one of them) have even gone to the extent where they ban their students from wearing ANYTHING that comes from that store (even if the student cuts off any labels which would advertise where their clothing came from). You'd think A&F announced that they were devil worshipers at some point.

I think it was some of A&F's marketing that many people found awful. I've never seen the catalogs in question, but the complaints were about overly sexual images, and the use of young girls in those images.

I'm not familiar with the particular case but wouldn't we be all walking naked if overly sexual marketing was the dealbreaker?

Well yeah. It was the ages of the models that were the main issue.

I hadn't heard about the 2 kissing guys one. I kind of got bored listening to it all, I think it was in the late 90's when FOTF was all over A&F. I could care less about fashion, don't shop at malls, so it really has been irrelevant to me anyway.

I had a A&F catalog 2001 or 2002. I remember pretty much everyone was naked in the front. My mom was horrified and called my sister telling her I was into porn. LOL My sister had to explain what it was. My mom never confronted me on it.

Honestly, they probably either don't know or don't care about stocks...I mean, which of the run-of-the-mill fundie families has money to invest? Not many since they're strapped trying to put food on the table for the upteen children and "support" Doug's "ministry." Probably no money for a newspaper subscription, either, and since CNN is evil, they probably don't even check that once in a while. So in that environment where people are so sheltered, it's easy to just make up a BS reason for something and sell it as "fact."

I think it's more adds like that that make A&F such a no no for fundies. (warning, defrauding pictures ahead.. and I'd say about 90% are safe for work... so I'd probably avoid clicking the link until you are home)

Umm..why should they even care? The majority of them couldn't afford to shop at A&F even if they wanted to, and many of their clothes would not meet "modest" standards. Even the VFers who allow TV would never be watching Jersey Shore, so how is any of this relevant to Dougie & co. in any way?

:? :? :?

Yes - because one stock dropping (along with ever.single.other.one) means the end is nigh...........

Doug knows the end is not nigh because if it were, he would be in charge by now. He's postmillenial and Christ can't return until he and his millions of descendents get to rule the world with women like me working as their charwoman.

You know, I'm surprised Doug would even bother talking about this stuff. I have never owned and don't ever see Abercrombie and Fitch stuff. I think I saw a store at the high end mall in Troy and at that mall down in the east central quadrant of San Antonio, but I never even saw one of their items at a thrift store. So do his followers really know enough about that kind of clothing. I don't know that I've ever seen one of their ads in anything I read. Maybe I did while waiting to get my hair cut, but I wouldn't have distinguished the ad from any other one.

And I don't have cable, so I don't watch the Jersey Shore. My husband's boss is from Montenegro, and he used some crazy Jersey expression in a meeting the other day, and my husband cracked up. He said something about it and his boss said that they use the expression on the show. (I don't remember what one of the many crazy Philadelphia/Jersey/NYC slang terms it happened to be.)

But if VF folk are frugal, make their own clothes or do thrift shopping, and they don't watch too much TV, then why would they even be familiar with the people that he points out in that blog post? Doesn't it make it irrelevant info?

Not that I want to defend him, but pretty much all the media outlets pointed out that A&F's stock dropped after they made that offer to the Jersey Shore cast.

Dougie might have a vested interest in A&F's success...might need a few of those catalogs to research the immorality out there. Righto.

I first saw an A&F catalog ten years ago, when I was in high school. It belonged to a gay friend of mine, who got it for all the reasons you're thinking of. I don't think, at that point, I had ever seen so many male buns in one place... I'm not surprised Dougie keeps up on the A&F news.

Ah, Aberfimbie and Crotch.

I'm sure Doug has researched it very thoroughly. It's hard work, but somebody has to do it.

As for the pics themselves . . .

Some of those pictures are spoiled for me by the "sullen model face" thing. But the relaxed and smiley ones are lovely.

I really do understand that sex sells. But, in a catalog, don't you have to show some of the merchandise? :? Other than a couple of pairs of jeans, sheets (does A&F sell sheets?) and racks of clothing you can't really see in any detail, there is nothing made of fabric in those pics!

I walked by one of their stores a couple of weeks ago and thought it was Tommy Hilfiger. They are getting pretty close to each other in styles. I don't like A&F's clothes, #1 they don't make clothes for us Rubenesque gals who don't look like a toothpick.

Cheapest gay male porn you'll ever get. And the beauty is you can hide it from your parents a lot easier. I mean seriously, your mom finds it you just go "hey mom, page , I really like those jeans, can I have them for Christmas?".. beautiful really.

Wow. (wipes brow) those are really ads for A&F? Wow.

I'm totally defrauded here.

I think I need to take a cold shower or something.

btw - what does A&F sell? because I really didn't see any products.

I find the first photo to be really hot. The rest less so. I'm never a fan of posed beauty so I guess that's way. But the first one doesn't look posed and wow, I like it.
