What the legislation in the civil rights era ought to have done was strike down every form of the government’s own discrimination against blacks, and its mandating of discrimination elsewhere, and left it there. If Bubba still wanted to exclude blacks from his ribs joint, then that was Bubba’s problem, and Bubba’s loss. Everybody’s money is the same color.

Not only is he an idiot but he is old enough to know better. The south had segregation and would have continued to segregate. The stores that excluded African Americans before the sixties would have had the same clientele and wouldn't have lost much money. Anyone who has read the anonymous comments under a yahoo news article can view the racism, homophobia and misogyny that is usually hidden.
