Michael Pearl Not Helping Scantily Clad Woman

Once during a trip to Memphis with our family, I recalled seeing on a downtown street a half-dressed woman being jerked around and slapped by a man in a pink suit.

“She’s a prostitute,†Dad told us. “He’s a pimp. She works for him, selling her body to lascivious men who will burn in hell, so that she can continue to buy drugs to satisfy her addiction. God hates prostitution and pornography, kids. It destroys lives and families.†We kids stared in horror at the man and woman who were now stumbling into a building with neon signs and blacked out windows.

Michael Pearl braggs about being a manly man but he didn't stop to help the woman or at least, call the police. For all he knew, she was a rape victim forced to sell her body. How hard would it have been to at least make an attempt to report the activity to the police.

Maybe I am wrong, but why did he take his kids to an area where he thought that there were prostitutes? How did he know that they would be there?

I'm not being snarky when I say that I wonder if Michael knew about that place because he had visited it. I wouldn't automatically assume that a place with dark windows was a place for sex workers unless someone told me or it had a sign.

In the original article, one of Michael's children write about a porn magazine that the mailperson just happened to drop on the ground outside their mailbox. Their father, if I remember correctly, burnt the magazine and gave the kids a lecture about porn. Maybe the mailman just accidentally dropped porn beside their mailbox or maybe Michael is a hypocrite.

I think this guy is a total bullshitter. I doubt most of the things he describes ever even happened, except for in his overactive "command man" imagination. Honestly? I think Michael Pearl has sexual fetishes related to physical violence and acts them out on children and animals. He is a sick, sick man. I don't think he likely knew where that area of ill-repute was because he used the services. I think he knew where it was because watching people come to harm is his greatest aphrodisiac. I can see him sitting in his car, delighted as he watched men strike those women, women whose abuse was all the more exciting to him because they were not buttoned-up virgins.

maybe he found the address in a porno mag the mailman stuck under the bushes for him to find later. i'm thinking he was somewhere near beale street, in the buildings they dolled up for "the people vs. larry flint". the last time i was downtown, a few of the windows were still painted up as they were in the movie. the other stuff on the street includes antique shops and furniture design showrooms.

You're right, this can't be true. The Pearl children are younger than I am. When I was a kid, the 'pimp' suit was being mocked as a stereotype. Rebekah, who wrote the article, is about ten years younger than me. No way, this actually happened.

That level of control and fear is insane. What did he think that his daughters would be doing in their bedroom?

Our pastor’s wife out here in Gallup, New Mexico, made sure her daughter stayed in the bedroom with them every time they had company. Even if the company was family! She didn’t trust her own brothers and cousins around her daughter. She was wise. Her daughter is now grown and free of any grief of that sort. The mother herself wasn’t so protected as a child.

If you are that frightened that your family members will molest your daughters why have those people over to your house?
