Who are your favourite Royals and why?

It is great that somehow all of my interests start to appear on FJ! I'm a member of "The Royal Forums" (reading only, they are so strict against OT that I don't want to write something) because I love reading about all the different families. So lets split this up into the different categories:

My favourites:

King: I like Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. He seems like a kind guy and fun to be around. And he is a freaking pilot and flies big ass planes.

Queen: Queen Elizabeth II. Who else? I'm not sure if she is a great grandma to be a around, but she really seems to live for her job. I love her passion for horses and dogs.

Princess: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. Had not the easiest time growing up with her eating disorder. Seems like she could be my next door neighbour. Really down to earth and fun to be around too. Seems like a great mum and wife. And she picked a nice husband.

Prince: Unpopular choice maybe but I think Prince Charles is an interesting person. I never "got warm" with Harry or William. Maybe also Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan. I haven't read much about him because I'm more interested in the European Royals but he seems okay.

Royal Child: Princess Estelle! Daughter of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. She is cute! I love the Triple A's from the Netherland as well, but they don't have this "cute factor". Not a real Royal, but Mia Tindall (granddaughter of Princess Anne) is cute too.

Queen: Its a tie between Maxima of Netherlands, Margarethe of Denmark and Silvia of Sweden. There's a lot of interviews on line with Margarethe and a couple with Silvia they just both seem really interesting to me.

King: Willem-Alexander of Netherlands he seems really cool and I love how excited he and his wife get at the Olympics.

Princess: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, I too think she seems down to earth and fun. I like that she's crown princess even though she has a younger brother. I like her husband and fine Estelle adorable. I also really like Princess Madeleine she seems really cool and her daughter Leonore is adorable. Watching both little girls along with their brothers and cousins at weddings and Christenings the little kids are so cute and funny to watch. I also really like that Victoria, Madeleine or their spouses are always holding their kids at the weddings and Christenings. It probably would be easier to just hand them off to a nanny or someone else.

Prince: I'll go with William and Harry they both just seem really nice and really fun with Frederik and Joachim of Denmark close behind along with Carl Philip. The interviews on the youtube they seem really nice.

Queen: Mathilde of Belgium. Such a sweet and classy lady and Very intelligent.

King:None particular. They all seem to be fine and honest  men  doing their best to respect their traditional roles and History while being modern forward thinking monarchs.

Princess:Victoria of Sweden for all the reasons already mentioned.

Prince: Frederick of Denmark. He seems like a really fun guy devoted to his family and doing well taking over more and more of his mothers duties in even though he is naturally a bit free spirited and Rambunctious. He wants to uphold the dignity of the oldest monarchy in Europe.

I must admit that I have no knowledge about that. I have a book here about Württemberg royalty because this is were I live and walk by the castles and palaces all the time, but I have no idea about them.

So that would be Charles Eugene (Karl Eugen), Duke of Württemberg. He was born in 1728.

Anne of Cleves. She was a nice average minor royal girl with not much to recommend her who got thrust into events that saw  the great and the powerful who used cunning and machinations killed regularly  but she  survived  and got independence and even a pretty happy life and a place at court by simply using logic and common sense... Don’t argue with a King who holds all the power.

And Frederick  IX of Denmark. Who dosen’t love a tatted out knife carrying monarch who wore leopard skin briefs and tried like hell to protect his people from the Nazis?

For me  its a tie between Elizabeth I and Anne of Cleves.

Elizabeth went through so much just growing up. Her mother beheaded, stepmother who came and went and were beheaded, illegitimate. And things only got harder after her father's death. The crap Thomas Seymour pulled and ending up in the Tower under Mary's reign. She was awesome as Queen. She faced so many challenges because she was a woman, illegitimate, and the larger Catholic world who viewed Mary the rightful Queen but also wanted England to remain Catholic. But she also really seemed to learn from experiences and made a lot of really smart decisions. So many don't or are unable to.

Anne of Cleves usually over looked because she wasn't beheaded or died or had any children. She did the only thing arranged marriage and moved to a completely different country. Only for her husband to reject her. A man who already beheaded one wife and banished another who he treated horribly. Anne not only gets out of her marriage with her head but money and property. She remains part of court as the King's sister and treated as one of the family. Its very rare for a woman to be able to that especially a wife of Henry VIII.

Henry VII, always overshadowed by his more (in)famous son Henry VIII. But he led an incredibly fascinating life in his own right, and his reign was in many ways the bridge between Medieval and Renaissance.

Gobbles, TRF used to be loads of fun years ago before Warren died and Elspeth departed as moderators. Since then it's turned into a whole Thou Shalt Not Speak About Anyting Unpalatable About Any Royal EVER (even though it is actually true) act. I mean you cant even mention that Slitzerella of Sweden had a whole career posing for porn and making out in public with XXX stars. Or that Stephanie of Monaco actually did run off and join the circus. And they will ban people at the drop of a hat. In the old days you could have a spirited discussion with a variety of views. Not anymore.

So who do I like....

QEII and Duke of Ed (the definition of duty and in his case black humor)

Felipe and Letizia who have had to put up with all kinds of shenanagans from his relatives.

Victoria and Daniel and boy did Sweden dodge a bullet when Carl Philip got bumped down. Can we imagine a Queen Snakey?

Madeleine and Chris such a nice family. Terribly bullied by the Swedish Press.

I don’t think Carl Philip married suitably  or it will last and I am for intelligent criticism and argument but calling a woman “Slitzerella” is incredibly offensive, unnecessary, trolling and I would have that user banned as well if they persisted.

That said I do agree it seems like an adoring fan site instead of A forum sometimes with certain royals being beyond any criticism. Posters are attacked if they dare question, express a negative opinion of them.

TRUTH.  I can just imagine Snakey redoing Stockholm Palace in top to bottom LV print and glitter once she ascended her throne.

Did you ever see her "charity" videos she did when the palace was trying to revamp her image before the wedding?  Truly cringeworthy...

CP was pampered and probably favored by King Carl Gustav who campaigned for his son to keep his right to the Crown over his eldest CP Princess Victoria when the succession was changed to Absolute Primogeniture when the boy was a toddler. And he has never seemed the brightest bulb to be blunt . Other than Victoria who will make a wonderful Queen the Swedes seem to be the least regal and dignified of all the current RFs.

Oh, I dunno.  Carl Gustaf and Carl Philip are both tacky misogynists, but Inaki and Infanta Cristina of Spain are giving them a run for their money in the awful Royal Olympics.

That wouldn't surprise me. How awkward for Victoria to have her own father campaign so hard to keep her from getting the throne even though she was born first. I agree I think she'll make a wonderful Queen. She seems really smart and dignified.

Are you not aware that Miss Hellqvist was  in fact Miss Slitz Magazine’s centerfold of the year just before she arranged to meet CP? She campaigned  long and hard for that title . Miss Slitz + Cinderella = Slitzerella. If you are offended by that, you might want to stay away from the less sugary Royal boards as she has MANY far more offensive nicknames than that.

Still waiting Tabitha. If you are going to call me "Incredibly offensive, unnecessary, trolling and should be banned" I think it's reasonable to ask whether you are aware of what I posted above? If not, It would be nice if you were to march up with the same  speed you attacked me and say, wow I didn't know that . I  can see why people might refer to her by the title  (Slitz) she worked long and sweatily for.

Guess you're not going to admit it then. Whatever. Perhaps you might consider pausing before instantly  flaming people. Especially over a woman like Miss Slitz of the Year.

Well my most favorite royal of all time was Eleanor of Aquitaine and her second husband, Henry II. It doesn't hurt that they were played by Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole in The Lion in Winter...

infighting, setting children against parents, crusades, infidelity, it doesn't get much better than that.

History Is much more entertaining than fiction. Incest, murder, adultery.. all  Writers and producers have to do is look at any given country with a monarchy In any  historical period and they will find something to make a series about.

Snakey? Slitz?

I'm sorry, is this FreeJinger or Royal Dish???

Love royal dish. But again, she campaigned long and hard to be Miss Slitz  Magazine's Centerfold of the year.  A title she was very proud of, which in her engagement interview, said she regretted it not at all. Or all the other porn pictures starting with the bondage ones in Thailand when she was a teenager, which she had to have her parents explicit permission to do. She's gross.

"What family doesn't have its ups and downs?" :laughing-rolling:

Love that film so much. And Eleanor of Aquitaine is right up there at the top of my list of all time favourite royals.

I've always loved Katherine of Aragon. She was a strong woman and fought for herself and her child.

Seriously?  You have issues! She could have had more men than Jenna Jamison and been twice as Flexible at one time but she put that behind her. Evidently she was acceptable to the Swedish government, the people are fine and so far she has been a scandal free royal  And it is not as if  she Is filming Sophie does Stockholm in the Throne room as far as I know.
