Silver shine

Here's a more intricate design from the same book as the minimalist ones. I liked doing this but it took quite a long time.

I'm into Birds

I like this Christmasy effect. I may actually spend the $8 to unlock this app totally. The pictures and  colors are diverse (and include gradients, which are cool) plus there's effects.

Lily

This is a quicky I whipped out while waiting for the dr. to come into the exam room on Thurs.  I'm not sure I love the light purple in the middle now that I'm looking at it again, but I think the dark purple/teal combo is something I should explore more often.  I also used the worst color green, it seems.   Not sure why I thought that was a good color to use at the time.

First One

I only recently got a stylus and a large part of it was so I could use the ipad for art. My apt isn't big and I am a messy creative person. I need one with a finer tip though. Anyhow I too have been doing this coloring thing for years. I was excited and rather amused to see it pop up here. Strange convergence of interests.

Medicine Owl

From Creative Haven's Owls book by artist Marjorie Sarnat.   Love her designs!  Just finished this one tonight and once again, the photo does not do the actual picture justice. Something everyone who posts photos knows already, but I'll keep trying to get better shots. Prismacolor Premier brush tip markers, Copic Sketch markers, Staedtler fineliners.

Secret Garden, page 1

It is a work in progress, but so much fun and so relaxing!   So far I am using stabilo pens, with a few colored pencil accents here and there. but I'm thinking of using pencil to shade the background in a midnight blue when I'm finished.

Help, please!

I've devoted quite some time to this beautiful cat. (I purchased Tropical World by Millie Marotta and I love it).  I knew as I was doing his face that I was going to have a problem with the inside of his ears. So I thought, ok, just do them now in case it's a disaster. Well, it's a disaster.  Now, I think they might not looktoo bad in the photo but if you zoom in you'll see it. What do I do?  I've already tried to fix it but probably made it worse.  Any ideas?  I don't want to spend many more ho

My special snowflakes

I am having trouble uploading pictures. Seeing if it works with smaller picture files. I may have gone a little overboard with blue minimalism here but see what happens when I use more colors: it looks like condoms

My Sock Monkey

I'm working on a page from the Owls book, but that's going to be awhile, so in the meantime here's a little drawing I did last night of my sock monkey.  Pencil and Prismacolor Premier markers.

'Tis the Season

My first blog post. I was at Michael's and was tempted by the holiday coloring display, I ended up getting three holiday books- this is from the Creative Haven Christmas Trees book. I decided to do it in non-traditional colors to avoid using up my greens. It didn't scan well, it's hard to tell but there are two shades of orange- the darker one is really red and the darker brown is more maroon than it looks. .

Animal Kingdom #2

I started this with no plan and almost abandoned it as I watched myself lay down these atrocious colour combinations. But, then, I loved it!  I'm not sure why I suddenly just really liked it.  I decided to continue on using the same colours. I really love this. I know you guys may not, and that's ok because I love it enough for all of us. Once again it is the Sargent gel pens, a mix of metallic and fluorescent. By now I probably don't need to add that the colours pop way more in real life.

Be gentle! It's my first submission

I have colouring pages in a few books, but I will submit my colorfy images first.  This is the first one I have done on the app and I am quite enjoying it. Not sure if I am going to go subscription mode yet or not, but we shall see!

Cat Nap Finished!

Just finished this page from the Creative Cats book.  I really like it!  This is the first time I haven't used any blue in a page. As usual, the real page looks more vivid and some of the colors, especially the Copic Lipstick Red that I used in the Tiffany lamp and on the borders, are deep and jewel-like. In the photo, it looks a bit muddy, but  the page looks so colorful and pretty! Almost all of us who take photos to post our work have mentioned that the photos aren't as good as the page and i

Secret Garden #2

This is a combination of fluorescent and metallic gel pens (all Sargent). I like this a lot. I don't know whether I should risk ruining it by filling in the grass. Thoughts?  (That was a lot of tiny pebbles!)

First Coloring Post!

Sorry for the crappy photo!  Here is my first colored page from my first adult coloring book purchased "Secret Garden" by Johanna Basford I really like this book and i am interested in more books from her. I also order a lot of prismacolor colored pencils and gel pens!

7+ hours down the drain

I was enjoying how the tree and the grass/field and houses turned out (coloured pencils). Then I loved the two little kitties in metallic gel pens. Then, if I may be frank, I totally fucked up the moon and the background. Ugh. My hand was shaking after this marathon. And I'm so sad that I hate the result.

Can't stop colouring!

This guy is from the book, Animal Kingdom, by Millie Marotta. I wanted to do one solely in the Sargent metallic gel pens.  It is, of course, so much 'metallicier' than it appears in the photo. He is very shiny in real life.

Pokey Power!

Do any of you remember Pokey?  He was one of my favorites as a kid and even now I have several Gumby and Pokey figures around the house that make me smile. I used one of them as a model for this drawing I did last night. Wanted to color Pokey...so had to draw it myself!  Am working on another page from the Creative Cats book now...the one with the cat curled up on the big chair. That one may be awhile.

A minimalist effort

My inner minimalist did this in three colors of cheap felt tip pen. In the original there's a cool illusion:  it looks like four colors because the gray looks more golden next to the green and more silver next to the blue, but the effect of the off white background hue  ruins it in the photo.

Secret Garden

This is my first effort from the Secret Garden book. I don't like that there are designs on both sides of pages and I wish the pages were perforated. But, it's such a pretty book I decided to buy it after all. This is just pencil crayons except for the little ladybug, which had to be done in red gel pen, right?  (She's hard to find, unless you have the book, of course.) I still might colour the background but, overall I think it's quite pretty.

Here There Be Owls

Just finished this one...the same one I posted as "In Progress" a few days ago.  I really like this artist's designs...never boring to color, always fun!  Wish I could get better photos that showed the colors a bit more accurately. I can't scan the original so I have to take pictures of whatever I post.  Am trying to decide what to color for the next project!

Indian Mandala's 2 & 3

I really love this one for some reason.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  Gel ink with colored pencil on the background (the mustard yellow and the light shading in the background in the center areas).   The colored pencil with gels on things like this helps me avoid streaky looking work on the larger areas so thank you FJ for the education.  (before you move on, note the amount of green (and yellow) before looking at the next one).   I challenged myself in the mandala below to not use g
