Medicine Owl

From Creative Haven's Owls book by artist Marjorie Sarnat.   Love her designs!  Just finished this one tonight and once again, the photo does not do the actual picture justice. Something everyone who posts photos knows already, but I'll keep trying to get better shots. Prismacolor Premier brush tip markers, Copic Sketch markers, Staedtler fineliners.

You are sweet! Thanks so much for your kind words!  I just wish after so much work that the photo looked as good as the actual page does. I'm going to research online about ways to photograph art and see if I can get some tips that might help all of us take better shots to post. We all put a lot of effort into our coloring projects and I'm sure everyone wants to share a quality image for all of us to appreciate! I love seeing everyone's projects and almost everyone seems disappointed with the way their coloring looks online so there has to be a way to get better results for everyone.

That orchid is KILLING me.  Why can't I find it anywhere?  WHY?  The humanity!!!!!

This one is beautiful, as always.  I really like the color combos you use.

I'm still disappointed that I messed up my yellow marker purchase because it's not nearly as bright as yours.  It's still a lovely yellow and I definitely needed more yellows because most of mine tend toward the florescent so I don't feel bad about the purchase, other than it's not the one I *really* wanted.

I'll be excited when we can have dueling dazzling dogs pages.  We will have to pick one design to color at the same time and see how we each do it :)

The Winsor & Newton Promarker "Orchid" is out of stock on Blick.  I want to get another one for a backup because I can't do without it!  I love the color, especially paired with the Copic Lipstick Red as you can tell by how often I use them together.  Can't help myself!  Would love to do a Dazzling Dogs Duel with you...let's see how different our results will be!  If you have Creative Cats or Owls, we could choose a page to do at the same time sooner than waiting for Dogs to come out. I bought the Incredible Insect Designs and the Peacock Designs books by Creative Haven and still haven't done a page from either one. My poor giraffe page from NatureScapes is still sitting here with only one giraffe head properly colored because I can't force myself to do so much more "realistic" coloring to finish it...that's boring!

I have creative cats, owls and the incredible insects one.   I don't have the peacock one...yet.  I also have naturescapes.  I've only done one page out of that one so have lots to pick from yet.  I've done 2 cats and 1 owl, I think.

Pick a book and a page and I'll do the same one :)   I'm just about done with my current page, so need a new one soon anyway.

I looked through my books last night and was thinking about doing a peacock page...but didn't choose one yet. I'll look through the books we both have and pick one one for us to do at the same time!

The large color areas look so even that it could be printed. Everything I do ends up streaky :)

Your owls are beautiful. But I worry he might be a charlatan, seeing as he sells miracle cures to everything lol. :)

I'm so jealous of @Tikobaby's ability to get such smooth areas.   I do ok in small areas, but I have learned my coloring style does not lend well to her suggestion of always keeping a "wet" leading edge.  I'm trying to change that, but it's pretty hard to change the ingrained way one has always colored, it seems.

I think this owl is definitely a bit on the shady side with his patent medicine sideshow!  Thank you for liking him anyway.

The only thing about coloring that's a little stressful for me is trying not to get streaks in big areas of one color...but sometimes it happens anyway.  Remember, if I get a bad, obvious streak, I will edit it out before I post the picture so I'm still struggling to get a totally smooth look. Am getting better at it. Have to color fast and keep the leading edge wet, but with complicated designs where you have to go around all kinds of things and slow down so as not to color over lines, it's really hard not to end up with a bit of a streak. The light blues and light violets seem very prone to streaks...yellow seems to streak less for a lighter color.

I don’t think I can agree with this Bates/Duggar comparison. When looking at the five Bates guys age 21 and older, three of them (Zach, Lawson and Trace) seem to have “careers” based on social media. Nathan B and John D seem to have the exact same careers, aviation/Medicorps, so no advantage to either family there. Jackson B seems to have a steady job in Florida, but his previous employer was actually Jason D. I’ll leave Josh out of since he’s in prison. Joe and Josiah have chosen private lives currently, so I don’t want to speculate on them. Jed, Jeremiah, Jason and James all seem to be running their own businesses probably based on financial support from JB. Justin works for his father-in-law in his business. I don’t really see the Bates guys as more successful or prepared for life than the Duggar guys.

On the B/D women comparison, they all seem pretty similar. Most of them are balancing homeschooling with social media influencing and social media based businesses. The D women have much larger social media followings, so maybe they don’t need to hustle as much as the B women. None of them really lead extravagant lifestyles, but they all appear very comfortable.

I don't think it's so much the money or the things they will do, but I do think the Bates women have had a taste of moving in different social circles and they wouldn't want a life under the Jboob/Meech thumb. Like Alyssa (?) may home school and all that but her in-law is in the legislature; Josie (? or is that Katie?) has a husband who is a musician with a certain amount of success and there is travel, etc. Can you see any Duggar daughters or in-laws all dolled up in chic, form-fitting dresses walking through Central Park with Michelle? Even the boutique seems to be a real business and at least one (Josie?) has an actual career. However steeped in the Kool Aid, and even having Erin and Michael as older sisters, I think a younger Bates woman would rather be an Alyssa or a josie/katie (can't keep them straight) or even a Whitney than an Anna Duggar.

When she initially posted about it, I thought it would be something like allowing each kid to decide if they wanted to spend the afternoon at a water park, a botanical garden, a kids’ museum, something like that. But that would be too little control for Karissa. It was essentially a weekend of cheap food, with the kids stuck with whatever event they drew (why not allow them to trade off?) and limited in their options.

The idea isn’t a bad one, but her execution sucked. They would have done better if they’d spread it out over several weeks and given each kid some real choices.

That’s Karissa. And I think it’s a big reason why she refuses to do holidays and birthday parties for her kids (besides the money and time). She is honestly frantic in her day to day life. She reminds me of a friend I had with untreated ADHD. I’m not diagnosing. Just saying that’s how disorganized she is. I’m betting she’s left kids at random places many times. And there’s absolutely no way she could get her kids to school every day in time. No way. Everything in their life is disorganized chaos.

I wonder where they get some of their cost estimates from.  For example, Artemis is asking for $200.00 to update ID cards but the cost for getting a state ID in Washington is $55 for 6 years.  Even if this is for both of them, it is still almost $100 over what is required.

there including the cost of transportation to and from the DMV. Why cant they take the bus. Also there are plenty of across the country bus companies, yet there flying. these two refers to leave the apartment but will go on a plane. I hope they bathe before flying.

Art posted a new and urgent post asking for more donations but saying they lowered the costs to 2000 since its to late to book the movers so there selling most of there stuff.

They are also bringing the cats on the plane so they need 300 for vet and shots to fly and 100 for travel kitty litter. As well as 400 to check bags at the airport. someone is covering there tickets but they have to pay the check fee.

they also need disposable dishes. dishes are the last thing you pack and the first thing you open when moving. during the travel u eat out or dont need paper plates and plastic silverware. these two are anything but realistic

I would be surprised at Art not going the "ID is a tool of the government" sovereign citizen route except I think they're found it useful. NJ looks like $24 for a licence, $35 for real ID. Maybe passports, although that would be undercosted. Are there are additional costs around getting licence/ID photos that aren't covered in the quoted cost?
