Coloring is Meditation

Unlike others - my busy has not been coloring.   It's been work, a cold and catching up on way overdue chores/housework.  Oh and work.   Stole this from Facebook today just to post here.

A flamingo postcard

This is from Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom postcards, which I received as a Christmas present.  It took some getting used to because the cardstock is very smooth, which I don't like as much as regular paper, although it made it very easy to blend colours.  I'm reeeaally happy with it, and have no intention of letting it get scuffed up in the mail!  Happy 2016, FJ Colourists!  May your coloured pencils remain sharp, and your pens filled with ink...

This is Why They Don't Let Me Design Wallpaper

This is the first picture I did, a two page spread from The Time Garden. I guess I decided to jump in with both feet! I do like the way the wallpaper looks, but I think in real life if would be crazy overwhelming. I originally planned to color in the wallpaper background black, but gave up on that idea when I realized just how much work it would be. Plus I think it would be very difficult to keep it from looking s

Another free coloring sheet

I used some crayola water color pencils for this one. I did not have a complete set just what I was able to find. Luckily I had the primary colors and magenta. I discovered dipping the pencils in water good for getting bright colors.

From I Heart Coloring Christmas

The book is a bit repetitive but it's a portable size so I've had it in my handbag lately (for all my urgent coloring needs while out and about, doncha know). So it's mostly been done with a small assortment of felt tip pens and the coloring is messy, haphazard and not very well planned so don't look too closely. But it gives you an idea of what the book is like. The first picture of the Christmas clutter had weird triple outlines around objects so I didn't really know what to do with them

Rabbit's Enchanted Forest

Sorry for posting my second page so soon... I've been doing lots of coloring! What surprised me the most when I began coloring a few days ago is how long each page takes.  This page took two days, but I don't remember how many hours per day.  Anyway, I like this page a lot, but after coloring so many leaves, I am now excited to get back to the Creative Cat book!

Animal Kingdom (again!)

I've just seen all of the new work posted and they are all so nice and DIFFERENT!  Mine always seem to look the same. Maybe it's because many are by the same artist. I don't know. Anyway, here's my latest. He's ok.  My new pens haven't arrived yet so am still using coloured pencils. I bought some fine tip Pentel markers though, so maybe those will be decent. I also got the Creative Haven Art Nouveau Animal Designs book. I showed my family my secret hobby and my daughter-in-law wants me to colour

I Am Still The Fun Killer!

@Furious /Curious has been pestering me to post this, and I finally caved. The fact that I enjoy coloring pretty things doesn't mean I have given up on Killing all the Fun. You should all still quake in fear at the mere mention of my name. Grr. Anyway, I got 4 coloring books and a nice set of colored pencils in my Solstice swag. This image is actually the second one I did. I'll post the first one later, if Curious makes me. This comes from the Artist's Edition of

Hedgie!

Furious posted a hedgehog coloring page on the Picture of the Day and it was so cute I told her I was going to try to draw one myself and color it. She expressed an interest in seeing it, so here it is!  It's based on various clip art I looked up since I didn't have a live model!

Coloring book inventory

I have a question as to which books you all have. I currently only have the owl book. I am being very mindful with my money so I am picking my extras purchases carefully. I want to participate in future color offs too! I also covet prism color pencils so much they are my idol.

Rabbit's First Coloring Page - Creative Cats

So for Christmas, I got two coloring books.  I decided to color the first page out of the Creative Cats book for this.  This was my first time coloring in, gosh, years maybe.  I hope you like it! I used color pencils but I didn't have very many of them to choose from.

WIP blue squirrel & short blending tutorial

I'm working on this blue squirrel. See that one lone colored leaf down there? I made a short picture tutorial on how to color that leaf, since I was asked in my last post  it's very short and easy!    We are going to color this leaf: First, choose your colors. I'm using apple green and dark green. They don't have to be the same color family but different hues, but it does make it a lot simpler--if you go from red to blue, for example, you'll need a transitional color i

First post - yarr harr mates!

It's not as if I needed more ways for FJ to help me procrastinate... but this blog...   I just finished this one from Lost Ocean.  I usually use lots of colours, so felt like trying something completely different.  I made some mistakes because I only decided to colour the background in black about halfway through.  I think the grey scale works with the skull and cross bones design, but it was too boring to do again anytime soon.  Thanks to you guys I now want gel metallic pens!

Christmas ColorOff/My Cat Tea Party!

This is my version of our Christmas ColorOff page!  Used Prismacolor and Copic Sketch markers.  Really enjoyed coloring with Furious and hope we can all set some more ColorOffs up because it's very interesting to see different takes on the same page.

A Christmas ColorOff ~ Cat Tea Party!

Finally, @Tikobaby and I are done with our Cat Tea Party ColorOff.   Here is my version of the page. I used tons of different kinds of markers and gel pens.   The colors are relatively good in this picture, but I think the green on the walls is a little bit darker than it actually is.  It's prismacolor pale jade.  The purple on the arch is prismacolor light lilac (since I don't have orchid *sniff*)  Don't look too close at the bottom of the page.  Things got a lit

Just a  few quickies with reindeer and Christmas decorations.  (That sounded dirtier than intended.... no animals were harmed in the creation of this post.)

Ornaments

I'm having the worst time with my coloring lately.  I've torn up, abandoned almost immediately, or put away for later seven pages in three days.  Can't find the right colors I want, or started it and hate what I did...I'm just frustrated rn and don't know why exactly.  Hopefully coloring will go back to being relaxing and fun again soon.  I miss the comfort and joy.
