Can't stop colouring!

This guy is from the book, Animal Kingdom, by Millie Marotta. I wanted to do one solely in the Sargent metallic gel pens.  It is, of course, so much 'metallicier' than it appears in the photo. He is very shiny in real life.

Wish the metallic shine would show up better so we could appreciate it.  Cool design!

I know what you mean about the metallic not showing up properly.  It's frustrating.    I love those pens.

This is really gorgeous.  I'm off to try and find that book to put it on my wish list, based just on your page!

It has the same issues as the Secret Garden etc., but it has some very nice designs.

I bought some gel pens from Amazon that are kind of no name I guess. (I can't even remember the brand.)  They are quite poor!  The Sargent are so much smoother and just much better quality. I hope that if my Sakura set ever arrives I will like them better.

I just went to look at that book and realized I've looked at it and others by that artist a couple times before, but the 2 sided/non-perforated has stopped me from getting any of them.

I really like this owl though, so I may go ahead and get one.   I need to get a new exacto knife blade because I see a lot of slicing pages out of coloring books in my husband's future ;)

I think you will really like the Sakura pens.    I have a variety of different ones and I have yet to find one I don't like.   I really like the glaze ones, but the drying time on those (literally about 10+ minutes) makes me not use them as much as I normally would.    Lately I've been trying to just save the areas that I want to use those until last so I'm not accidentally dragging my hand through wet ink constantly.    That's my only complaint about any of the Sakura products and to be fair, they do tell you about the long drying time on the packaging.

Oh!  I'm glad you mentioned that, @Curious!  That's a long time and I would have learned that the hard way. I find the Sargent pens are pretty quick drying?

I wish that all the books were perforated but, failing that, that they at least had spiral spines. It's just hard to colour in these books but they do have the most gorgeous pictures.

I decided to experiment today. I used my Staples spiral crayons for the first time and wanted to add the details in gel pens. It actually turned out quite well, although my colour choices are not stellar in this. The majority of each cupcake is crayon and the decorative parts are gel. You've really got me hooked :kitty-shifty:.

(I'm posting this here, rather than yet another new post, as I feel I'm rather inundating with my pictures.)

I like the cupcakes.  I've never tried crayons with the adult coloring books.  I'm going to have to give that a go.   I don't really mix mediums mostly due to space considerations.   I have rearranged stuff a little bit now, though so it will be easier to use colored pencils and markers or crayons and whatever.

Don't worry about posting too much!  There are only a few of us on the blog right now so those of us that are active are just going to have more posts.   I try to keep most of my posts on my own blog.   I kind of wish I'd thought to ask if people were interested in this type of blog before making my own because I'd rather just post in one place, really ;)

@Curious, I see your new markers arrived?  That's exciting!  Don't forget, you said you would post new pictures of your supplies.

I have the package sitting here and I'm getting ready to go through them.   I'll try to post a new picture later tonight or tomorrow.  Stuff is a mess right now because I'm right in the middle of a colored pencil project so I have pencils everywhere!

Glad you said it's OK to post a lot!  I've felt like I was bloghogging a few times myself.

I really like the glaze ones too, but I've been a bit disappointed at how quickly the ink is disappearing (about twice as fast as the regular Sakura pens). I'm on a fairly tight budget and I'd rather be purchasing new goodies instead of replacing ones that have been used up.

I really love the owl.

I have some generic set of gel pens and i loved the  one picture I did entirely in gel but some of the colors already died during that effort. Pretty pricey... one pic per pen set.

I haven't noticed the ink level in my glaze pens.  Now I will have to keep an eye on them.    I think one of my other kinds of Sakura pens is pretty close to dying.   I thought it was totally dead, but it seems to have a little life left in it, afterall.

Like you, I'd rather buy new stuff than replace stuff that just doesn't last.  As much as I color that would be quite an expensive issue for me.    So far,  I have not run out of any marker/gel pen and I haven't used up any colored pencils yet either.

I got a book called the Colored Pencil Bible, which I found out after ordering was a little above my pay grade right now, but it had some great tips for supplies and one of those was to get a "pencil extender" which I'd never even heard of.   I got a set of 3 on amazon for like $6 or something, so now when the time comes I can get more life out of pencils that are too short to hold.

Once I finish reading several books I have on colored pencils and other coloring type subjects, I'm going to post about them.

Have they said anything about having a place to live once they get to their new location?  If I remember correctly, finding a low income handicapped accessible apartment (and getting approved) took some work last year.

I wonder if whoever is offering to "help" Ryann and Art is aware of their grifting lifestyle.  I can see offering to assist a family member in crisis, helping them get back on their feet, navigate doctor's visits, apply for benefits, find a JOB, etc.  I doubt they are signing up to support these two and their pets for life.  Perhaps this kind person can help them see the way to a productive and less dependent life, but they are just so convinced of their own entitlement.  Gonna be interesting, and I suspect there will eventually be a reckoning.

      Have we discussed this already?

Jana wrote a happy mother's day message and someone named Lauren Forsyth commented that actually Jana raised the kids.

Is the commenter related to Joy somehow?

He took the video down already, but Michael Shamblin posted about Remnant musician Brent “BB” Barcus (far right) leaving temporarily to play for Shania Twain’s Vegas residency. Seems the Remnant/Elizabeth is supporting this (after all, they can’t afford to lose any members these days). The video included a clip of a scrawny/overly injected Elizabeth chair dancing and badly lip synching to Shania while others at Ashlawn cheer wildly.

I do seem to remember BB  - who toured with Shania and maybe others before - testifying to Gwod that he/wife Miley (the one whose always screeching a holy version of a Bangles’ cover) were so much more fulfilled serving the church than playing for the impure masses. But here he is gigging in Sin City.

Michael lamented HE was forbidden from performing any music except for the church. So that don’t impress him much.

It must’ve felt like living in a golden cage. He could make a lot of music while in RF but it had so many rules and strings attached.

I don’t think Kelly is a totally reliable narrator. So I think there are some things that might be off in this story.
