I'm watching the PBS NewsHour's stream. Kavanaugh brought his family with him to the hearing. It's starting now.

Dems are asking for the hearing to be adjourned because of the document situation.

Senator Grassley is the chair, and doesn't give a damn about the document situation.

Grassley says the Dems are just trying to obstruct. Protesters are yelling while Grassley is trying to speak.

Grassley is talking about how they didn't have full documents on prior Democratic candidates for the Supreme Court.

The feed cut out and now Kavanaugh is introducing all of the family members who came with him.

The Dems are revisiting the issue of adjournment because of the document issue, and Trump's use of executive privilege to keep documents from them.

Dick Durbin just brought up what they did to Garland and how long Scalia's seat was left open.

Senator Cornyn wants to proceed of course regardless of the objections from the Dems.

Senator Booker is talking about the importance of the 'advise and consent' job the Senate is tasked with, and how they need time to review the documents to do their job properly.

Grassley just wants to move along.

Senator Feinstein is giving her opening statement. She's talking about all of the scandals and indictments in the Trump administration.

She brought up what was done to Garland, and how many materials have been withheld from Kavanaugh's file.

Senator Feinstein is basically saying that they need more to review materials to do their job properly.

Senator Blumenthal is again asking to adjourn. Protesters are yelling at the back of the room.

Grassley is riding roughshod over the Dems, and refusing to consider their requests.

Grassley is explaining the process of how things are supposed to proceed to Senator Kennedy of Louisiana (R).

Grassley is threatening to keep the proceedings going through the weekend if necessary, and is losing his patience with questions.

Blumenthal is again asking to adjourn and quoting rules, Grassley is like whatever, and talking about how materials were withheld in the past for other SC candidates.

Several protestors throughout the hearing have been ushered out while loudly yelling.

Now Senator Cornyn (R) is chastising the Dems.

Blumenthal is talking about how Republicans have asked for hearings to be postponed in the past and those requests were granted.

Grassley is now chastising the Dems and telling them he will not entertain any of their objections.

Kavanaugh looks bored.

Grassley keeps trying to tell the Dems they have enough materials to review.

Blumenthal is again asking to adjourn.

Grassley really wants to move on. Senator Booker is saying they've only seen 10% of Kavanaugh's record and that's not enough.

A protestor is yelling again.

Grassley is ready to start questioning Kavanaugh.

More protestors are yelling.

Grassley is trying to ignore the protesters and get through his remarks.

More yelling from protesters.

Grassley is complaining about how Bork and Justice Thomas were treated and complimenting Kavanaugh's record.

Grassley is saying this will be the most thorough and transparent hearing for a SC nominee ever.

Senator Feinstein  is speaking now and asking Kavanaugh about his opinion of Roe v Wade.

Feinstein is still asking her question.

She's now talking about the NRA.

She's now asking about his opinion on assault weapons and talking about school shootings.

Thanks for your running commentary, @Cartmann99! For those of us not able to see this in real time, it's a great way to follow along what is happening -- although none of it is unsuspected whatsoever.

I am pleased that there are so many protests going on. I hope they will be able to keep it up, and make the public's displeasure at the proceedings known to the world at large.

Here's a snapshot of Senator Durbin's commentary:

Thanks, @fraurosena! I don't type fast enough to get everything.

Senator Hatch is complimenting Kavanaugh so much, I think he might be about to propose marriage to him.

And here's Sen. Blumenthal's:

Hatch is about to stand up and tell the protesters to get off his lawn.

This hearing is ridiculous.  They make it sound like it's the Dems fault, yet Grassley just ignores and keeps yammering on.  Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together can see the majority doesn't gaf about anyone wants other than themselves.

What is the big rush given how long there were vacancies in the past.

I'm LOLing that the protesters just got much louder after Hatch asked for them to be removed and Grassley was like eh police do their job and we do ours.

Who according to Hatch apparently love Kavanaugh so much...

Maybe the protesters are trying to make the american people be heard.

Hatch saying Kavanaugh is in the mainstream might be the funniest thing I've heard today.

Hatch just said that they will confirm Kavanaugh.

Feinstein is introducing some people in the audience.

Senator Leahy just said that Kavanaugh shouldn't be there, as they haven't reviewed enough of his record to be at this point yet.
