omg, she is a really smart and mature girl. What was weirding me out is that she looks a lot like Joyanna Duggar. If only...

She's more articulate, intelligent and mature than most 40 year old fundie women. I would be so proud and thrilled to have a daughter like her. Her parents are obviously involved in her life, education, self-esteem and world view. Bravo to them.

Fundie parents, take note. This is what raising a daughter to fulfill her purpose looks like.

I'm really impressed with not only how mature her opinion is, but also the fact that *how* she talks is what you'd expect from a 13-year-old girl. She seems to have found a balance between being fun and youthful whilst being grown up about important topics, which I think is great for her but also for other people her age, who are more likely to absorb the arguments in her video than they would from an adult.

I have a four year old daughter and I can only hope that I raise her to be half as awesome as this girl is.

With the mentality of some of these folks, when I saw the title of the thread, I thought -- Why shame them when they should be stoned?

Damn that girl is smart.

I think, she is a delight!! Compared to the average, virgin, mummy clone fundygirl, this is so good to listen to!

Yep, she's pretty cool and obviously very smart. And if she hadn't said she was 13, I would have definitely thought she was more like 15 but looked younger.

My only issue with her is that I wish I'd been that smart and articulate when I was 13!

On an somewhat unrelated note, I went to a grown-up doctor for this first time yesterday (i.e. not a pediatrician) and the nurse was asking me a ton of questions including if I was sexually active because of the issue of pap smears. I said no and then she said something to the effect of "Not that I think it's bad that you're not sexually active, in fact, I think more young people shouldn't be sexually active." I guess it was pretty benign, but it made me somewhat uncomfortable. Like, I don't agree that people my age shouldn't be having sex if they want to. I don't want to and that's fine for me, but it's because I genuinely don't want to, not because I want to and refrain from it. I don't know, it just struck me as moralizing, which I didn't like.

porn, I think she may have been trying to make you feel better for not being sexually active. like you might be embarrassed by it. I'm not caring whether you are or not, but I suspect she hears a lot of people that are quite young being sexually active. I just about died when, ( since I have to go with her, she's a minor) the gyno asked my daughter at age 15 if she was sexually active, she said yes ( which I knew) and the gyno's eyebrows shot up and she said "oh?" in this tone. Way to make me feel like a white trash mom, lady. I didn't really get her reaction, around here, that's not uncommon at all.

I maaaay have been that intelligent at that age (maybe), but I certainly wasn't that confident and self-assured. I hope if I have a daughter she's got that sort of strength.

She did start high school, and in at least one video she mentions how boring high school is so far for her - but maybe once she gets past freshman year she'll get into AP classes or something else that challenges her. In my experience, though, young girls get really ground down by middle school, not high school, so hopefully she's already crossed those bridges.
