Sa you could sneak Joy-Anna an mp3 player full of songs for her to listen to. What would you have her listen to? You have 1000 songs. Fill it up!

Anything appropriate for a 14 year old girl to listen to applies.

Superchick One Girl Revolution

Anything by Miranda Lambert (especially Heart Like Mine)

Ditto Dolly Parton

Some old school rock and roll (bonus points for Christian overtones)

My 13 year old - who thanks to Mom has recently discovered Freaks and Geeks  - walked into the room a little while ago singing Joan Jett's Bad Reputation.

I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation

You're living in the past it's a new generation

A girl can do what she wants to do and that's

What I'm gonna do!

Here is the answer from my 12-year-old daughter:

Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Brandon Heath, TobyMac, The Afters, Selena Gomez, Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Newsboys, Hillsong, Kelly Clarkson, Jamie Grace, and Carrie Underwood.

I would add MercyMe (I mean, they aren't even allowed to listen to Contemporary Christian, are they? Or are they?) I would add Jeremy Camp and Casting Crowns as well, for CCM.

For secular songs: (this list is going to date me!)

-Depeche Mode, Enjoy the Silence

-LL Cool J, Around the Way Girl

-DJ Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince, Summertime

-Tom Petty, Free Fallin

-Pat Benetar, We Belong

-Temptations, My Girl

-Roxette, Listen to Your Heart

-Arrested Development, Tennessee (does that count as Christian overtones?)

-Mary J. Blige, Real Love and You Remind Me

-Sheryl Crow, All I Wanna Do

That's all I got for now. I tried to keep it mild. I wouldn't really recommend she listen to what I was listening to at 14! Although if she did, it would be kind of crazy. I can't imagine Joy playing-

-R. Kelly, Bump and Grind

-Sir Mix-a-Lot, Baby Got Back

-Beck, Loser

-Snoop Dogg, Gin and Juice

-N2 Deep, Back to the Hotel

-Metallica, Nothing Else Matters

-Pearl Jam, Jeremy

-Offspring, Self Esteem

-Naughty by Nature, O.P.P.

That would make for a crazy episode.

when I was 14 the most popular song was Nelly: It's Getting Hot In Here!

Could you imagine a Duggar of ANY age listening to that!?

I picture the scene in Rock 'n' Roll High school where the main girl fantasizes that the Ramones are in her bedroom, serenading her with "I Want You Around." It makes me sad that Joy can never indulge in that kind of school girl fantasy.
