I just re-read the article and apparently the remarks were meant as a joke. Hmm. I wouldn't joke about personal hygiene.

That always sounds like an excuse to me; make odd remarks like that, people don't agree, backpedal furiously.

I like soap. Just sayin. People can get a bit whacked out on that hand sanitzer. But soap? Ain’t nothing wrong with smelling neutral to pleasant and cleaning one’s parts thoroughly.
