As far as God’s concerned, He knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease. God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he’s a baby, he’s going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn’t a bad thing.

A good friend lost her daughter as a toddler. Sometimes, there are just NO WORDS. That's when you just shut up and hold someone while they cry. When you don't have the answer to hard questions (and I don't believe that anyone can fully answer "why did my 3 yr old have to suffer and die?"), don't make up hurtful shit. Be there for the grieving family, give a shoulder to cry on, bring them meals and provide some practical help, allow them to talk and learn to shut up and listen, let them know that you are grieving with them, donate in the child's memory to good causes (like curing the disease that killed the child, donating to a children's hospital, or donating to help children and families), talk about good stuff being done in memory of the deceased child, talk about memories of the lost child and allow his/her memory to be a blessing.

I'm not sure, though, that dementia puts thoughts into your head that had no place there before. Both of my grandmothers had forms of dementia, and it didn't give them hateful ideas from outer space. One couldn't remember anything, but stayed the same personality as before. The other also had a bit of psychosis, but in a way that made sense according to her beliefs. So, as a lifelong socialist, she thought that Obama was visiting her everyday (probably because the TV news was on), but she never started spouting right-wing or religious stuff.
