Lisa Barrett, former midwife, friend of Hellena, now "birth advocate", is being investigated for manslaughter following a coronal inquest into her involvement in the preventable deaths of several home birth babies.

She just keeps popping up in the news every so often. She's already been banned from providing midwifery services for the pastyear or so, and surrendered her licence a year or so before that, IIRC....

She's nothing but a menace, and I'm glad they are still pursuing her. :evil:

She was also fined $20,000 only a few weeks ago for breaching conditions but she still persists. Because she isn't registered and has no license the courts have to treat her as a lay person and the professional bodies (eg Midwifery Board) have no jurisdiction,

Her website is still up and running and offering her services.

This woman is a menace. I can't believe pregnant women still go to her. Use any other midwife! And if other midwives don't think a home birth is safe for you and your baby, you should listen and go to the hospital!
