5 Christian Right Delusions About History

LOL, the one which I heard was that Rome fell because the Romans were all gay. This gayness led to them all becoming peedos (as you do) because apparently that seemed like a good idea at the time, or something. This pissed God off and he smited them mightily. The lesson is therefore that a. all gays become paedophiles eventually, something in the style of a Pokemon evolution and b. toleration of homosexuality makes God really angry, so letting gay people get married etc is just begging for a good smiting.

I rather like this bit:

"Anyway, the decline coincided with the rise of Christianity, which under the “God’s protection†theory means that God was punishing Rome for dropping paganism and adopting monotheism."

:D

I was surprised they didn't have any thing about the civil war. But maybe saying Jefferson Davis was a hero should be in a list of Christian Right-Extremists Delusions About History.

A lot of the Civil War fetish stuff begins and ends with people like Douggie. There are some stupid CW interpretations out there (the war was only about states' rights. Which it was. They are not wrong about that. It was about the states' rights to stay slave states). But much of the political Christian right focus more on the colonial/revolutionary period.

Tomorrow, I will take the time to make a list of everything you can hear here from the fundamentalist about our revolution. : It's because of gay jews that our nation died in 1792, the september 22th. (And this is because of the French Socialist that Hitler was elected. I don't deny the responsibility of Daladier and Blum, no, but this idea is so narcissistic.)

And dear Mr. Santorum, power and democracy can't come from God, because it can not come from something that does not exist.
