Oh I'll bite I dont get it. Is this cos his wife is in pain through childbirth because they sinned and got cast out kind of thing.

This actually sounds like he's...sympathizing with his wife! Albeit, in a fundie way. Sounds like he's mad at Adam and Eve because they're causing his wife so much pain, which is the cause of labor pain in a fundie, Christian world. Because Eve at the fruit.
