Midwest Really Getting Hit Now

Over the past couple weeks Iowa has been getting hit with a whole shitload of snow.  Last week the Dubuque area received just over a foot of snow.  And they've been getting really hammered the past few hours with eastern Iowa experiencing blizzard conditions.

Up here in the Twin Cities we mostly missed out on the worst of it, with the heavier stuff all down in Iowa and southern Minnesota.  Right now it looks like the Metro is going to get one to three inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow.  It had already started when I finished work today and has been going steady for a while now.  Problem is tomorrow it's also going to blow around.  Then it is supposed to get really fornicating cold here in the Twin Cities.  With temperatures below zero even before wind chill is accounted for.

A couple local breweries that have staff living next door decided to open for the customers that live in safe traveling distance.  Which I would say is under a mile.  Otherwise a lot of other stuff is closed right now.  I got an email from the Dubuque paper since I still have an account with them and follow the news there saying there would be no physical paper tomorrow.  I let my mom know not to expect the physical paper tomorrow and she told me dad measured 16" of snow.  That was in addition to the snow they had already received.

Yeah, so for those of us in the Upper Midwest weather this weekend is a big, giant, UGH.

Doesn’t sound like such a godly reason to get married if you ask me.

Many a young person has gotten the hots for someone and let the attraction run its course without getting married, whether that’s two months or two years. The sizzle finally fades, the couple realizes they have little else in common and they move on. Most never regret the moving on part. Then ten years down the road you see someone you were once so crazy and think, “wow, dodged a bullet.” Or even just, “yeah, no.”

Imo, the IBLP-encouraged quickie marriages of young people is a major way to keep members in the cult. Young married couples quickly start having babies and find out how hard it’d be to get out of a marriage they no longer want to be in. I don’t know what the divorce rate is for IBLP couples, but if it’s low, it’s not because they don’t want to divorce, it’s due to the difficulty of getting out from under it all. Easier perhaps to stay and tolerate.

I just hope they wait a few years to have kids. Because if they do, they might have time to realize they got married too young and can divorce before bringing kids into it.

The biggest reason these fundies get married young is so they can have sex without religious guilt and shame.

Literally every teacher he’s had has gone on and on about how they wish they had a bunch of kids exactly like him because he’s so sweet, thoughtful, empathetic, a good listener and a good friend.

And take it from me, teachers don't say that unless they really mean it :)

And Abbie will never help her kids as her parents have helped her. She is a disinterested and disengaged mother, there is no way she’ll be a helpful grandparent.

I completely agree. But she will loudly complain how none of their children visit them or ever call as though she had been a sacrificial mother. It's incredible to me how little insight these mothers of too many have when it comes to their own children. Someone in another thread posted about taking her toddler to a well-child visit and answering questions on the toddler's speech. It made me think how so many of these women most likely have to take the sistermom along with them in order to provide accurate information! And yet these same women will proudly talk about what a blessing each child is.

Hidden True Crime posted a video with John analyzing from the psychological perspective Ruby and Jodi re the sentencing hearings.  Almost 2 hours long.  (And if you go to about the 12 minute mark you’ll miss the sponsor ad but not really miss the subject matter )

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑

      Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum. It was suggested to me by former and outspoken Remnant Fellowship member (Natasha Pavlovich) that I join this forum and put out here what I do. She also warned me that no one on here trusts, or trusts easily, and that I'd likely be assumed to be a Remnant plant or spy until vetted and verified as not that. Fair enough.
In short, and in truth, I'm a psychotherapist with 25 yrs experience in Franklin TN (less than three miles from RF incidentally) with a special interest in working with people formerly associated with cults, cult-like or any and all high control intitutions. I'm especially interested in working with those desiring not only deconstruct, recover and learn to thrive post-indoctrination, but those desiring to recapture or cultivate an authentic sense of theology without walls, or spirituality with borders.
To date, I've worked with former Amish, Mennonite, LDS/FLDS, FOG, and a those representing a whole slew of evangelical, fire and brimstone fear/shame/guilt-inducing institutions.
I am especially interested in working with former Remnant Fellowship and Scientology members. I view RF as basically Scientology without the budget.
I'll leave it there. Much more can be gleaned about me through my website: therapyoutsidethebox.com or IG: @ therapyoutsidethebox

      Peace,

I have a friend with untreated autism and ADHD. I've tried so fucking hard to help. He refuses. It's a mess. I'm really really tired.
