Penis envy?

crazydaffodil

Seems to be a lot of mention of male reproductive organs lately, both here and in the Republican debates.  Does size really matter?  Does even having such a slab of muscle mean anything?

Sure, this site is heavily visited and used by women to express thoughts and ideas.  But if a male steps in and says something that goes against the grain, instead of being called out on it, as would be done with a female user, he gets raked over the coals.  It's as if the women of the Amazons have declared their supremacy and men shall not express ideas opposite of theirs.

Is this because the women have some kind of penis envy or are they just taking it out on the man?

Just sayin...

Marry me!

I do not agree with Freud's penis envy theory, but I'll defend to the death* your right to post about it.**

* metaphorical death.  my convictions are remarkably flexible in the face of danger.

** as long as they are no tou violations which will require extra work for the mods.  So far so good.

But is your penis flexible?

@AliceInFundyland The mods did not say he cannot be taken to task when he angers someone. This is not the same subject and this is coming from someone I believe had zero participation in the kerfuffle. You guys are bringing the kerfuffle here. SW responded to something he said and continued to respond in a clear way until others jumped in. Just because you are reading all about this does not mean this poster is - I have honestly never noticed her before today.

Gamer is not immune from the same treatment everyone else gets unless there is something new in the rules no one told me.

Okay - couple of things:

Of course he isn't immune to being called out on what he says.  I know this week has been difficult for a lot of us - which has to be the understatement of the year from me.

like every single FJ poster he can post what he likes within ToU and will have to deal with the responses to his posts as long as they are within ToU.  Freedom of speech within the context of FJ and ToU means no one is protected from having to read posts they don't like and no one is protected from reactions, even passionate reactions with which they disagree, to their posts.

since I think we can all agree there are no ToU violations or anything even approaching there is no immunity question.

That said - and this is NOT a rule or official mod statement - just me giving my opinion:

Blogs (and statuses) are each member's individual place on FJ.  If discussions in the comment section move to where they aren't about the blog it's polite to move it to a neutral locstion.  If a fight broke out in my comment section I'd nicely ask them to scram...for the same reason I don't want you bringing your spouse over to have a fight in my living room.

@SpoonfulOSugar and someone else mentioned moving it I'm assuming for that reason.  You're not breaking the rules but there are better places to do this.

Tensions are running high right now on a lot of fronts.  I cannot be the only one who is hurt and confused - doing some wound licking trying to figure out where I stand in this community.  That doesn't mean we shelve opinions - this is FJ for gosh sake.  But for right now maybe we could all pause a little before posting or replying to make sure our words and tone is clear and filter out residual and unrelated anger before posting.  Then post with the honesty and bluntness God knows we're famous for.

That's not a reprimand to anyone - just an aknowledgment that many of us are pretty raw right now...feeling self protective and protective over people we care about out.  Protective over the community as s whole.  As @Silver Beach stated so eloquently in a post on another thread...there are a lot of disparate opinions out there held by a lot of people some of whom might not like each other very much at the moment....but in every corner of this hot fucking mess are people who really do want what's best for FJ and deep down...each other.

now I'm going to stop crying and go sing Kumbayah to my dogs (the cats scatter when I start)

I don't have one of my own...just liberal access to one.  For which I'm grateful because even though I'm a big fan, I don't know how guys sit down without squishing their junk.  It looks uncomfortable - I just prefer things neatly tucked away.

I had a student write his name in the snow once . . .

Guess how we knew who was gross and didn't use the outhouse?

I will never have that talent . . . . .

I've noticed this a bit more in the past few weeks, and an extreme amount more the last few days.  It's not just the pain from the surgery, but everything's been thrown out of alignment and doesn't rest in the right place when I sit.  It's counterintuitive, since there's less to squish now.  Maybe I'll adjust, or maybe it's an argument in favour of getting a prosthetic ball.

Hoping for speedy recovery for you and that you will soon be able write your name in the snow again.

@HerNameIsBuffy Can you clarify a preferable neutral location? I personally would prefer that people not bring these kinds of discussions into the Specularium.

Try wearing a wet suit to kayak (because water and cold).  Mr. Spoon has a handy dandy little "relief vent" to take care of things.

I have to strip down, which is awkward (because tight) and uncomfortable (because wet and cold).

Yeah, I'll admit I've felt a little envy.

On the other hand, that has got to be one of the UGLIEST parts of the human anatomy ever created.  Not sure why dudes are so proud of them.  Half of the descriptions in trashy novels just make me want to snigger.

I'm with you - I'd prefer to keep the specularium run clesn, too.   Great point to clarify.

Idk regarding location - just start a thread in the appropriate sub forum, I guess.

Again, wasn't speaking as a mod and it's not a rule.  Just as someone with an FJ blog who wouldn't want conflict unrelated to me or my post in my comment section. :)

Since this is one of the sub-threads here that actually IS about penises, I figured it was ok to reply still on this blog -- @crazydaffodil, if you don't like these other conversations being here on your blog, speak up, ok?

Anyway, I wanted to say that I had the same experience when I had a hysterectomy -- I had my uterus and one ovary removed.  And everything felt weird inside for a while -- like things were pressing against each other in ways they hadn't before -- and I was thinking, just as you said -- "shouldn't it be EASIER to fit everything in there now that a couple of things have been removed?"  :my_tongue: But of course it all settled down in the first week or so afterwards as it healed -- hope your recovery is going well too.

No.  That isn't necesary for a singular inguinal orchiectomy, and wasn't even suggested or mentioned.

But if cancer turns up on the other side too... well that's probably a sign I shouldn't reproduce. :P

@CyborgKin Has been very honest in answering personal questions in chat, for which I thank him, because it's helped me understand what a friend has also gone through.

Maybe one day we should do a Q and A session where he has a free pass at asking us personal questions?!

In Joy's Q+A video, she mentioned a counselor. Has she mentioned that ever before? I admit I don't watch her YouTube often.

I'm guessing Jessa goes outside and she may even take the kids on a walk.  I think she's talking about going out to a store, coffee shop, mall, etc. for which she likely has to drive.  Staying home more can also be a factor of getting older and not needing an outing every day.  I do think five young children is the biggest factor.

Alligator rhythms are doing it!!  They need to watch those berries, too.  Nefarious they are.  They've over reached and people are no longer willing to support the con.  To me that's what they've devolved to is trying to run a scam.
