Flashback - April 21st, 2003

So once again, I am reading old journal and blog entries when I should be sleeping. Oh well. (Side note - I noticed I say "oh well" in my blogs A LOT.)

In April 2003, I ran into an old friend from high school. She told me she was engaged. I blogged about how it made me sad because here I was, 21 years old and never even had a boyfriend. At the time, I had recently started talking to my now husband online. We hadn't met in person yet though. So I'm lamenting about everyone around me getting engaged and married. My now husband commented on the blog "Don't be in a bad mood. You'll be married some day. You'll have to trust me on this. I know things." And then he and I both make comments about pineapple juice. I have absolutely no idea what the pineapple juice remarks are about. I'll have to ask him tomorrow (he's asleep already.) Just another random, pointless thing that seems to be erased from my memory. I wish my brain held onto things better. In another post in April 2003 I mention that someone told me I'm a negative person and it was a good thing they didn't read my blog. I can't even come up with who that might have been. Likely someone no longer in my life though.

Anyway...he made that comment roughly 3 years before we got married. I guess he knew more than I did at the time.

And for no real reason...here's a song I listened to a lot in 2003. (Should I be putting videos behind spoiler tags? I'm not sure.)

They have a “champagne lifestyle” on OTHER peoples “beer budget”

“Champagne wants” is probably a better word than lifestyle, though the fact that they demand it and insist on being entitled to it makes it more than a want in my eyes. 🤷‍♀️

Thankfully they've decided not to sell baked goods. Apparently because someone told them how they needed a cottage food license and also because they don't know if they would be able to make all the pies.

It couldn't possibly be because people have figured out that they are do nothing, perpetually whining grifters.  Oh no, not them.

John MacArthur is being John MacArthur. The most concerning part of this is that there's a huge nouthetic counseling school run at Masters University.

The guy sitting next to him staring grimly is Costi Hinn who folded like a wet paper towel when he questioned Doug Wilson about all his sex abuse scandals. One wonders if he might still have a little PTSD from Doug doxxing him.

JMac has long been skeptical of mental illness and mental health treatment, but this seems more extreme (disinhibited?) even by his own very low standards.

There is a theory out there that the meteoric rise of tradwives on social media tracks with the overturning of Roe V Wade. The idea being that once abortion rights were overturned, pro-life people became increasingly emboldened.

I wonder what is motivating him here. The student protests? The coming election? Distraction from another brewing scandal within his church?

JMac is one of the top 5 fundies that personally piss me off, but I will concede the man is very smart. He knows the blowback is coming.

Still no donations on their go fund me.  This isn't going to work out for them.

Art has some theories as to why:

      Quote

"Fundraising is getting so much harder. I blame the price gouging that’s affecting everyone except the extremely rich. People can’t spare what they used to, because life is getting more expensive. Food, housing, and everything else is climbing up and up."

"The poorest are hit hardest because of the greed of the richest. I truly don’t know what we are going to do. We need to move again because we can’t afford to stay in this area. Moving itself is expensive, too. We haven’t received any donations yet toward moving."

And honestly I do think it’s because so many people are struggling more than ever. We just don’t have the “same $20 to share around” that we had even a couple of years ago. And that is scary.

From their public social media page. As I expected. It's not them. It's everyone else.
