Did someone say... tapir?

Inspired by @Maggie Mae, whose blog post gave me the warm fuzzies and a reason to dig out some old photos.

I believe everyone has at least one fascinating relative... mine just happens to have several thousand acres partially apportioned to an animal preserve. A few years ago, I tagged along in the truck on a feed and took some photos. (I survived unscathed, despite a camel stampede and a 7-year-old with a BB-gun in the backseat).

I'll start with the tapirs, but some of the other ones were just too good to resist.

Apologies in advance for any inevitable misidentifications.

Love your photos...very interesting animals.   Have had an interest in tapirs since seeing one in a children's encyclopedia when I was little...still remember that well!

That's cooler than your family owning an ice cream shop!

    Thanks for sharing.

Funny that you should say that... another cousin from that same generation married into a family with a local dairy that eventually produced ice cream now sold in a lot of the South. Didn't do us any good growing up, though. I don't think that's as cool as having access to an actual ice cream shop... yum.

While I agree a universal basic income would be a huge help for many (me included!!),

I’m not sure it would make much of a difference. Because if everyone got it, I bet it would only massively increase inflation. Kind of like the cost of living is different in different countries and is usually higher where the average income is higher.

I don’t see a problem with not wanting to leave the house every single day.

Wow, I couldn’t imagine. The only times I don’t leave the house on a daily basis are when I’m sick (and even then, unless I’m REALLY sick I try to at least go for a walk to get some fresh air or walk to the pharmacy if I need to pick up medicine). And very very rarely on a lazy Sunday when I’m home alone and get the chance to do nothing but sewing all day. But that happens maybe once a year.

I just feel really bad and lazy and unhealthy when I stay in all day.

She was 30 and they'd met in 2009. That's 15 years ago -- looks like grooming to me.  They were married in 2017. It's very suspicious that he announced her death and then asked the congregation not to discuss it in the church.

I will not be at all surprised if it's revealed he hired someone to kill her.

Even less than not surprised at all if a new very young fiancee appears in a couple of months.

Someone said he already has a new girlfriend but I haven’t seen proof.
