About this blog

A blog where I document the lives of my sims 2 fundies. Formerly created for Ranford family, it now also covers the life of more ambitious and image-savvy Lyndsay Hsu and her husband Jihoon.

We Are Back. Again. Part I: Ranfords

Christmas is over, New Year is gone, I'm out of excuses. Back to weekly posting plan.
And, so, what's going on in Ranford household? To be honest, not much. Life continued in familiar, chaotic misery.    Viola started a new parenting strategy. You put a crying baby on floor and lecture it. Very fundie-like, and very unproductive.    She decided to share this wisdom to the world with her first book. Basically, it’s a collection of her blog posts, but readers now must pay money for it.
Smart life choices!
Reed is a bit of a bully towards Huckleberry. He gets along with twins and doesn't care about quads yet, but every time he sees Huck with a toy, he takes it away.
Zachary and Viola would encourage Huck to give Reed his favorite childhood position, but, unfortunately, Huckleberry doesn't have anything that belongs just to him.
But Reed has a good side, too. He catches more fishes in one day than Zachary has managed to catch in his entire life.    The fishes Reed provides is the main food source for entire family now.    And he remembers to pick up all the old bottles from kitchen floor. And, trust me, there are lot of bottles.    #StoryTime: During one night a total stranger entered a house!!! Viola was busy potty training Huckleberry and didn't notice until it was too late!   The ungodly stranger turned out to be a hobby instructor! They are almost as bad as social workers, running around and telling kids that it's ok to enjoy something!!
(Apparently, Forest likes this one particular toy so much he has gained enough enthusiasm to be in zone. And he is only toddler. I'll take it as a sign.)   And, yes, no pregnancy announcement from Ranfords... Have Lord closed Viola's womb? Without giving her a precious little baby girl? Or is this just temporally hardship that will be overcome with combination of praying and sweet fellowshiping? Viola sure hopes so.

Blessed be the Leghumpers: Part 2 (Hsus)

This is the new house of our darling power couple. You thought they would live in forest like Ranfords? Lol, no.
Lyndsay believes that gardening and cooking from scratch makes her better than others more feminine.    As church now belongs to Hsus, they must visit it every day.   Lyndsay tried to fix what Jihoon screwed up. Jihoon doesn't mind that his wife is now responsible for business - after all she is still submitting to him, right?
Right?
While Lyndsay worked, Jihoon run into his long-time friend from townie days, Ryan Wheeler. Ryan is quite fundie already and dreams about starting a Christian music band.
"You want to join?"
"No, having job would make it harder for me to witness to lost souls. We and Lyndsay, we trust God when it comes to our finances."   Jihoon wasn't joking - Hsus indeed take soulwinning (and associated moneywinning) very seriously.  During their first days of marriage, they started several ministries dedicated to just that: "Talking with strangers on streets" ministry that soon resulted with some very generous gifts, such as a large tv, a computer, and 10% discount for furniture.    (No worries, kilts are allowed for men.)   "Inviting people over for dinner" ministry that allows Hsus to build better relationships with sims they are already friends with. So one day they can ask the Big Question (the "do you want to give me all your money and move in my house to serve as my personal unpaid maid?" one).   "Journey to the Heart for Young Men" - when Jihoon invites over his buddies, and they do Manly Things.    "Journey to the Heart for Young Women" - when Lyndsay invites over her ladies, and they spend an evening convincing her old friend from townie days to change her wardrobe. "Honey, you need something more modest, more feminine... Something that compliments your delicate nature and your Christian role models."   "Much better." Camryn Lee wasn't so sure. She was used to her old style.    And, yes, as you probably noticed, they adopted a dog - a very friendly Labrador named Lulu. She likes walks and playing fetch, but hates dog food and only eats sims' leftovers or flowers.    After selling gifts townies gave them, Hsus were able to build bathrooms for church.
Two separate gender specific bathrooms, of course. One would have been cheaper, but... you know.    All this hard work ultimately had fruits. During one of JTTH for Young Women meetings, Camryn finally had an epiphany – she must give all her money to these people, move in with them to spend her life serving Lyndsay Zachary Lord!!!1!!1   So she did. I don't know, what makes her so excited about sleeping in a tent, but it's her life.   Another news: the pregnancy test didn’t lie! Lyndsay is expecting for sure!

Blessed be the Leghumpers: Part 1 (Ranfords)

Hello again. The blog now has a new title and two new main characters, but some things will never change. Like the ridiculousness of Ranfords.
When we last left them, they had just welcomed four new sons. How is their life with quads?  Well... Fun fact: it takes about four hours to feed two toddlers and five babies. Then you have about an hour to take a shower or eat, before the long and messy circle of diaper change starts.
If you get lucky, they sleep between feeding and changing.
  "Maybe we should also adopt?"
Umm, no.
With so many kids, there is often not enough time to pick up all the bottles or look after all your blessings to make sure nobody eats an old milk and gets sick.
Besides, bottle picking is Reed's new jurisdiction, where is he?
Interesting... he has found a friend! Who happens to be a girl. With short hair!  At least she wears skirts.   "What do you mean, you don't go to school? Who teaches you math?"
"What's math?"
Reed's new friend is into sports... Weird. Is she feminine enough? Won't she encourage Reed to do bad things like asking questions and having relationships outside of the family unit? Zachary decided to have a talk with Reed about worldly influences. After all, Satan always tries to get the first born sons.    Viola meanwhile started a blog called "Natural, Neat, and Noble" where she writes about godly way of living. Tribes of Israel lived in tents near rivers, and you should, too! They didn't send their kids to public school and didn't give birth in hospitals, and you shouldn't either!
It's logic, guys.
Quick reminder: Huckleberry exists. And is ready to grow up.
He got a birthday cake, but only because automatic aging didn't work for some reason.
Poor guy looks a lot like Zachary.    Speaking of Zachary, it was time for church's first service.
He arrived early to meet all visitors. The ownership of church got transferred to Hsus, because Ranfords already have one business, and Hsus need an income as well. But Jihoon is way too shy to talk with strangers or give public speeches, so Zachary is still the pastor.
Jihoon... isn't that good with this business thingy, to be honest.   Some townies think this new church is a real #blessing and will make Crystal Archipelago better.
This one, for example, gave Zachary a tv worth 8,000 $.
"Wow, how neat! We will send you a free copy of my book. When I finish it."
"You are writing a book?"
"No."
  Others felt differently.
A teen, whose name is Sinjin Couderc (I think), for example didn't like Zachary's statement about homosexuality's unnatural nature.
"What the hell that even means?"
The church was still filled with decorations from Jihoon and Lyndsay's wedding, so Zachary had to make his speech outside. At first, nobody cared.  "Guys? Guys? I have to say some very important things about the acceptable length of woman's skirt... Look, no offense, but some of you could use that information! It's coming straight from God!"   Then Sinjin came over, and very nice old gentleman (named Ethan Barrett) followed him. Ethan had overheard Sinjin and Zachary's previous conversation, and felt that it was a good idea to cheer Sinjin up.  "Look, I personally think that you can go to heaven regardless of whether or not your way is straight."
Zachary was shocked, I tell you, shocked.
"That's... That's a sin!"
Don't rush into that judgment, buddy. I randomize my simss sexual orientations right after birth, so I know that not all of your sons will grow up heterosexual.    Unfortunately, this lady felt similar as Zachary and was quick to tell him so.
Possible new leghumper?
Uh-huh.    After service Zachary reminded Jihoon to have as many babies as possible and then went home to install a new tv and watch some football. Just for research purposes, of course. You have to keep up with heathen world to save it.     Thanks for reading, everyone. The part about Hsus will follow soon. Rufus bless.

Ranfords, Days 20 - 23: Beyond Blessed (No, Seriously,Too Many Blessings)

Hello. Ranfords are back. I'm not sure how often I will update from this point on, but I hope for weekly posts.    When we last left Ranfords, they had just welcomed their forth blessing. In case you forgot, Ranfords now have four sons: Reed, Forest, River and Huckleberry. Thanks to my not so well thought rules for this neighborhood, they will have many, many more.
And it's though. Viola was so busy with kids, even Zachary had to participate in housework! His poor, fragile masculinity was shaking.    Some... hey-hey-hey activities helped. (I'm so sorry.)   Look, something cute! Reed grew up. Nobody noticed, and he didn't ask for any attention. He likes to be outside, alone, doing something useful - his favorite activity is fishing. His new jurisdictions are: picking berries, nuts and mushrooms; planting tree saplings*; fishing for few hours a day. Homeschooling is so great, and teaches kids so many useful skills, not like evil liberal public schools!**   Twins grew up as well. Forest, victim of first-born syndrome, is a copy of Reed and wears brown outfit. River has similar looks, and his personality is almost the same as well. He wears green outfit.    Soon Viola was expecting again.    Unlike their older brother, twins did not enjoy their toddlerhood - they followed their parents, asked for attention, cried, refused to be potty trained, passed out in weirdest places and throw tantrums. Examples below.
Dont worry, though, they were probably just being manipulative.    Something good in it all: at least they were here for each other.
Zachary finally reached enough mechanical skills to be registered as electrician. Ranfords now have electricity in their house. Yey!    Viola used the new phone to get back in touch with her old friend. I thought her name was Lindsay, but it's actually Lyndsay with extra y. How neat and cool!   Lyndsay agreed to move in for a while to help Viola with kids and herself with... things.    After getting Ranfords-approved makeover, Lyndsay purchased a computer and started to write a book about courting and marriage. Of course, she had never been in a romantic relationship.     Two other things came with Lyndsay and electricity.
First, Zachary opened a home business and is now selling some homemade baskets and other things from his old van. (Twins are, of course, hanging near him, hoping for a bit of attention.)   Minus side - customers can wander around the house and talk to kids.
"When I grow up, I'll be politician, and ban abortions!"
"That's... special."   Quick reminder: Huckleberry exists.   Some people were very upset about how Ranfords raised their kids.
"Is this even legal?" "Yeah, just morally questionable."
As Ranfords were not doing anything illegal, upset townies had to come up with creative ways to express their disapproval.   Secondly, Lyndsay encouraged Zachary to open a church! Crystal Archipelago Grifting Ministry is small and self-isolated church that definitely does not welcome all... or even most. But Zachary is sure that it will soon grow into important community center. Lyndsay told him that he is a great public speaker. His next sermon will definitely be about modesty. These outfits!    They also sell Christian magazines and greeting cards to unaware townies.***    Church holds services every Wednesday and Sunday. It's first service was not very well attended. Still, one guy caught Lyndsay's eye - he was shy and cute, and not a Ranford, so definitely her type.    Next day, she called him to... emm, encourage him to ask her out. Viola is happy for her friend, but a bit worried that things move so fast.    Lyndsay took Reed to chaperone her. He didn't really care about the date, and it suited Lyndsay's needs. After a short argument about woman's rights to wear pants, Lyndsay and her new baaabe (his name is Jihoon Hsu, btw) found a common ground.    Reed...?   "Look, you are shy and nice, and I can manipulate you... I mean, I already touched your shoulders, I guess there is only one thing we can do now."   It was a shotgun wedding. Lyndsay got married before Viola gave birth.    “And now we can move into real house, and make cute babies, and run this place!”   And so they did.    As soon as Lyndsay moved out, Viola went into labor. Giving birth in bathroom is a tradition in this household.    Its a boy! Red hair, blue eyes! Who would have thought?
And, wait, theres another one!   And another one!   Aaand... yep, another one!   I guess, this illustrates their current season of life quite well.
It's still nice to meat you all, Linden, Cedar, Oak, and Elm. Nobody will be able to tell you apart, because you all have red hair and blue eyes.  Just like all your other brothers.    Question: do you want me to write about Hsu family as well? I will definitely play them, and they will be part of church plot either way, but do you want to see their everyday life? Alternatively, all updates can be just about Ranfords slowly turning into Arndts. * You can get all that cool stuff at here: http://www.medievalsims.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=240

Ranfords, Days 12 - 19: Now With More Bathroom Babies

Note on pregnancy: I turn aging off during pregnancies. This means shorter/somewhat more realistic spacing between children. I sometimes use that method in my regular neighborhood to get kids with small age gap. For Ranfords I decided to that with every single pregnancy. I didn't consider some issues like how slow kids will grow up if aging is turned off so often. Kinda regretting it now, but on the other hand, they will probably end up with more blessings that way.
I also have triplets and quads mod, so there is about 15% chance for three and 5% chance for four blessings.
Ok. Back to story.    Even Zachary realized that if your wife almost dies, gets to second trimester of her pregnancy and falls asleep while standing, you should get yourself together and help around the house. He started with feeding grumpy and hungry Reed.   Reed was very upset about whole situation.
"No potty! No!"
Zachary got upset too. I mean, what he is supposed to do with kid that refuses to be potty trained?! Its woman's job to know. Damn fire.    Speaking of fire, I felt guilty about putting grill inside and almost killing them all, so I downloaded Ranfords a proper medieval-ish stove. At morning, Viola used it to cook pizza. She still didn't feel good enough and fell asleep in her plate. Zachary meanwhile changed Reed's diaper after boy had an accident.    Despite the hard times, all Viola was able to talk about was how blessed she was. Another arrow on the way!   On top of everything, both Viola and Zachary were constantly sick the whole autumn. They got healthy from time to time, but felt sick again five minutes later. Then winter came and it didn't get any better.
And Reed still hated potty training.   Happy #family having a dinner together.     Do you wanna build a snowman?    Oh no! Viola was freezing. Better run inside and scrub toilet till you feel better, honey.    Zachary was freezing as well, so he practiced his creativity skills inside. It will become handy later, when he will be able to wean more kinds of furniture.   Viola was just done with cleaning the toilet when she realized she was in labor. Oh my!   "Zach, Zach - ZAACH! The baby is coming!"
"That's wonderful, dear."   "Oh, wow - there is another one! Maybe I should have had the ultrasounds..."   Yep. Thats right - two little blessings for Ranfords! Both boys. Welcome to the world, Forest and River. Wait until your mommy washes her hands, then she will pay attention to you, guys. Maybe.   Winter carried on, everything was under snow, Zach and Viola moved their tent inside and worried about their food stocks.
Zach tried candle making* and didn't like it. Viola tried knitting** and really enjoyed it.    Zachary often went to forest and stared into nowhere.    When snow started to melt, it was clear that Viola was expecting again and that Zachary was slowly loosing it.
"Why pregnancies are so long?! Nine months, that's insane! How many kids can you get that way? Ten, maybe fifteen. How are we supposed to be fruitful and multiply in these conditions???"   Viola did her best to be supporting helpmeet while Zachary went though mental breakdown and hallucinated a SECULAR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL!!!
Poor thing, he must be in very bad state to see that kind of horror.   After the incident Zachary cried from embarrassment, and Viola gave him an adoring look and forced smile. Probably, the creepiest expression I have ever seen on sim.    Unfortunately, twins were not the good babies Viola prayed for. They cried a lot, often for no reason, and Viola had to, like, actually parent them.    "Blessing?"
"Blessing."
"Yeah, very neat."
"Can't wait to have another one."   Guuuys? Stop. Right. Now.    "Zach? I... I... don't know... if only cough or... in labor."
"That's nice, honey."   Turns out, Viola was indeed in labor. Zach slept though it all.
Hey, don't hide in corner, Viola, show us the new baby.    It's another boy! Red hair, blue eyes! Who could have thought?
Welcome, Huckleberry Ranford, I hope your parents don't forget about you.    Viola was happy for the new little blessing arrow cutie, but she couldn't hide some disappointment. Even her genes were being submissive.    * http://affinitysims.com/files/file/2061-updated-chandler-for-sims-2/ ** http://affinitysims.com/files/file/1837-knitting-yarn-ball-free-time-required/

Ranfords, Days 11 - 12: The Series of Unfortunate Events

Ok, folks,
Reed's birth was huge blessing and all, but Ranfords soon started to worry about Satans shenanigans. Because something was wrong, and it had nothing to do with them or their choices.
First of all, Viola couldnt get pregnant right after giving birth, although Ranfords sure did everything they could about it.
Poor tent can confirm. O.O   Zacahary was devastated. Will Reed reach his toddlerhood without being a big brother? Will Viola end up having less than 10 children?? Will Zacahary grow old without a quiver full of red haired arrows to show off as a sign of his manliness???    Second, even with only one child, parenting was hard. Like, baby sometimes cried and was stinky. Putting him in muddles didn't help.    Admittedly, Ranfords practiced hands-off parenting, sometimes literally     But can you blame them? (Well, I can). They had sooo much work, folks. Winter was coming, so they had to fill the refrigerator with food. I mean, Viola had. Zachary did manly work.    But Ranfords still knew they were doing the right thing. They received small, encouraging blessings every day.
For example, Zachary got a fishing talent badge, although he had only catched one fish in his entire life.
That does, of course, prove that they are Right Kind of Christians and everything will be provided for them. Somehow.    Reed grew up into toddler (and Viola wasn't pregnant yet.). He looks like his daddy. He is somewhat neat, very active and outgoing, maximally playful and extremely grouchy. Oh-uh. Little cult leader in making.
There was no cake or anything. As his birthday present Reed received a new outfit. A proper boy outfit, not that girly pink thing he grew up into.      His parents, however, celebrated with sweat fellowshiping. And heard a chime! Stranger yelled on them again, just like when they got pregnant with Reed! Its a sign.
Townie left angry and frustrated, probably to start #FreeReed movement.    Although pregnant again, Viola still sometimes felt doubts about this lifestyle. As much as she tried to convince herself, count her blessings and control her own thought life, she didn't see a way for this to work out. To keep it sweat and submissive, she took her anger out on garden gnome.  Viola (inside): "You will never be republican senator, idiot, you can't even figure out how to build a proper house!"
Did I mention that Zachary finished kitchen? Because he did. Viola now could grill their hotdogs inside.
Only the first time she did, a fire started! (Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa - forgot that grills shouldn't be used inside.)   Fire! Fire! What do you do when fire starts at your home?! Zach had no clue.    Reed, being smarter than his parents, left the room and entertained himself till it was over.    Viola almost burned to death, but Zachary saved her. (Viola now can use it as metaphor to talk about Hell and Faith.)   Finally fire burned out. Ranfords lost a grill, a fridge and few old boxes. The biggest loss was food that burned with furniture.  BUT GUYS! There is a great testimony in it all!!! The SIGN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS! THE TOTAL BLESSING.
THE FIRST BUMP OF PREGNANCY! It sure means... Something.   Viola was so tired she fell asleep right there.  Zachary worried about her dangerously low needs, possible death and their lost furniture.
This is going to be a looooooooooooong pregnancy.

Ranfords, Days 6 - 10: The Bathroom Baby

What do you do when you are just married and allowed to touch each other for the first time? Ranfords did that. The whole day 6.   At one point their making out and baby makin' activities were RUDELY interrupted by cockroaches. That happens when you annoy people and they kick your trash can, Zachary.
This screenshot also illustrates the state the lot was at this point. Its partly my fault, I had never played with reed spawner in residence lot, only in community ones. I had no idea how quickly they take over everything.    Anyway, back to baby makin'. At early morning day 7 they were FINALLY lucky enough to hear a chime!
Random townie judged them.
(Phone in the background was deleted, I just needed it so Viola can call Lindsay and make their friendship stronger before going back to no electricity rule. Till Zach masters mechanical skills, Viola and Lindsay have next to no chance  to meet each other; I didn't want them to loose their friendship status. Who knows, Lindsay may be used as cult follower one day.)    Viola got fundie-approved makeover and started to harvest reeds. She wanted to clear all garden before baby is born.    There were other things needed for baby: a crib, first and foremost, and a changing table, and toys. Only one way to get these things: make them. Zach cried a bit before he gave in and started to learn how to make furniture. It will be long hours spent at basket weaving station till he reaches creativity level needed to make a baby basket.    He also had to chop and buck trees to build walls. Lifes hard! He hadn't even changed the clothes from wedding.    But it was worth it! I guess? Anyway, Zachary finished the bathroom walls, changed toilet to regular one and installed a sink. Then Viola came up with an idea to move the refrigerator (they use it to store food, but its not working, at least thats how I justify its existence), grill and stumps to make an improvised kitchen area. Cozy?    Of course, Viola did all the womans work at... house. Not much to do , when you only have one room, though.    FIRST BUMP!!!!!111!1!   And Zach learned how to make a refrigerator from reeds! Well, its more like just a box, but Viola still thinks he is AWESOME!
Nikes.    Zach tried to learn fishing. He was #blessed to catch an old boot that cant be eaten, but can be used as amazing decor. Very traditional.    See? It looks good in their new living room!
Viola kept sweet.    And tried to fish for herself.
Zachary at least got better at hunting (sorry, Rufus). And he was still making furniture. So Viola just focused on her duties: reed harvesting, cooking, and birthing.   And she succeeded! It was hard, and took 3,5 days, but she removed every single reed from the lot, and the damn spawner as well. Phew!  It was also the first day of Autumn. A new season of year. It would be so neat to start for a new season of life right now, Viola though while picking nuts and berries in forest.    And she was indeed blessed when her wish came true. Who needs homebirth, if you can forestbirth?  Zach was, as usually, pretty useless.   Viola gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She considered the name Forest, but ultimately decided to leave it for one of the future blessings. This baby was named Reed.   This is Zach. Celebrating. You know, first born son makes him all adult and manly.     Oh, and Zach managed to make a baby basket. It was too cold to keep baby outside, so they put him in only room with a roof.
You know, bathroom.    Welcome to the world, Reed Ranford. Im sorry, kiddo.

Ranfords, Day 5: World's Most Awkward Courtship (And FINALLY married)

The events of this day came as surprise to me. I planned to make a wife in CAS. But at least one townie was dumb enough to volunteer as a tribute.  - Zachary got out of his swing when his social bar dropped low again.  He started to chat the with first townie that walked by. And she was different than other heathens. Zach had almost lost a hope to find a girl like that! Cute girl. Almost modestly dressed. Feminine. Didn't tell Zach rude things like that he should find a job. Zach covered all appropriate first conversation subjects, like religion, money and family planning. They were talking about the evils of modern music, when townie (her name is Lindsay, btw. Not that Zach cares) suggested that Zach should meet her friend.   You see, Lindsay was not interested in Zach herself, but she knew this desperate and crazy meek and nice girl with low standards servant's heart. Zachary agreed to blind date (with Lindsay as chaperone, of course!)
Zachary and Viola indeed clicked right away. They knew the moment they laid eyes on each other that they will spend the rest of their life together, making babies and trying to keep reeds under control. Their starcrossed love manifested as high chemistry and strong desire to make out.  After a day spent chatting and low-key flirting, the date ended at ok mark. Could be better. Could be worse. Zach was not complaining.
Neither was Viola, who just didn't leave the lot. Zach felt little uncomfortable about it. Aren't godly woman supposed to follow his lead? And are not supposed to stay out after dark even with chaperone? But he couldn't ask Viola and Lindsay to leave because because what if Viola doesn't come back? Zach doesn't have a phone, how could he call her?
So he just made them some hotdogs.  “What a keeper!” Viola thinks. “A guy who can cook!” After hot dogs Viola got into hot tub. Oh my. She is too worldly! Zach will need to lead her to right direction. He used this as an opportunity to show Viola how REAL MODEST swimsuit looks like.
Lindsay didn't care about these two.
Despite Viola's inappropriate behavior, the night continued awkwardly and at one point these two realized that they are match made in desperate fundie heaven. Look who still doesn’t give a fuck. Viola excused herself to use Zachs shower, and Lindsay decided to use a moment to... umm, say goodbye.
Lindsay! WTF. Are you suggesting polygamous cult?!
Zach was too confused and excited to figure his next step now. He went to sleep, leaving Viola alone. She explored the forest, while thinking about... umm, godly marriage, of course. Totally motivated by right reasons. Not like dating. Witch is sin.  Ok, at one point she had doubts about her life choices. Don't tell anyone! She prayed and felt peace with herself. Everything was going to be alright.  When Zachary woke up next morning, he found Viola in his hot tub. So, there she was. A young, naive  girl with family aspiration. A girl he just met and barely knew. They had a crush on each other, but they werent even best friends, and they didn't love each other yet.
There was only one logical choice, from Zachs perspective. He married her.
And they had their first kiss at wedding! With cutscene and everything! How neat! Zach is truly #blessed to have a wife after all this time alone, and Viola is #blessed to start a #family with such a great man! (Special thanks to hacked wedding arch, which allows to marry sims regardless of their relationship, Batbox that has an option to delete these "kissed mysterious sim" memories adults from CAS have, and ACR mod that made it possible to consummate this marriage before their relationship was high enough to do so in regular gameplay.)

DAYS 2 - 4: Covered in GOOD reeds

Days 2 - 4 were not the most interesting season of Zach's life - but day 5 deserves it's own separate entry, so there.   Zachary started day 2 by cutting yesterdays tree in logs and building a small wall. He then learned his first mechanical skill point to put together an old barrel and some kind of pump. Enjoying his hard-earned shower here. (Sorry, NIKE! picture, but he was so happy ) He explored a forest a bit more and found wild bees. Someday hell be able to steal honey from them without getting hurt, but this is not that day.  Then first animals appeared and Zach tried hunting for first time. He learned he is useless with hunting with spear. I learned I put too many animal spawners in this forest and removed most of them. Zach managed to kill a wolf and a deer with sword. Which meant -  FOOD. Thats right. Zachary got over himself and learned a cooking skill to know how to use grill. No more mushroom and berry snacks, Zach is eating like a man. Homemade hotdogs, yummy.  After first real meal in days, Zach felt like annoying some people for faith. His social bar was low. Almost as low as  townies interest in his crap.  Manly handshake, sure, dude. You are the most masculine male man ever. You hunt. You eat. You flirt with ladies, and they turn you down.  Next few days were almost the same. At one point Zach learned enough mechanical points to put together a swing form an old tire and a rope, and to turn a water tank into hot tub. But otherwise it was pretty boring. Only reed spawner got completely out of control (it's a part of basket weaver set from medieval sims - useful if you pick up reeds and make things from them. Not useful if you are Zachary Ranford.)
At day 4 his lot looked like this:  Zach started to worry a bit. No, not about reeds. His wife will pick them up. The problem was where to get a wife. Townie women were all sane ungodly whores, and he had no electricity, so he couldn'tt order one from internet browse SAHD blogs.  Also, he started to hate hot dogs. Maybe wife could cook something else, like hamburgers and tater tot casserole.
At day 5 Zachary woke up with completely new wants for him. Instead of flirting, getting married, and having his first kiss, Zach wanted to catch butterflies and roller skate. And he spend a lot of time in his new swing. Was he giving up? Was he turning into manboy, trying to convince himself that he doesn't care anymore? Was it injured pride? Was he just loosing his mind?

DAY 1: Settling in

Inspired by @singsingsing's blog, I started to play Zachary few days ago. By now he is married and has a kid, but I will post about his journey in separate entries, because othewise it's too long.  -
Ranfords, day 1 Meet Zachary. He is generation 2 fundie (well, actually he comes straight from CAS, but dont tell him that), youngest son of alphabetically named quiverfull family. As you see, his name starts with Z, which means that by the time he was born, nobody cared anymore. Stripped from education, opportunity to learn skills and develop interests, Zachary reached his adulthood with limited options. For his homeschool graduation party he asked (and received) an old van. He packed up few things an old refrigerator, grill, tent, some old boxes and drove as far as he could. Van broke down here, in small island called Crystal Archipelago. There is only a forest and a river. There are no electricity, running water or community business. And Zachary decided that he likes it that way. He can build it all. With help of pretty wife and billion children. Maybe some of the townies will join them, and then Zachary will have a cult of his own!
The forest Zachary lives in is made mostly from stuff from here: http://www.medievalsims.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=240. There are cuttable trees, harvestable berries and mushrooms, nuts and fruits, and hunting stations. There is also a fishing spot (loved by townies) and reed spawner. It should cover Zachary’s basic needs from food to materials for furniture.  As Zachary moved in, first thing he did was jumping rope. A smart choice actually – one needs at least three body skills to cut down a tree, and he needs logs to build a house. But before that there were... more... rushing needs. Zach needed a toilet. So he used his first body skill to dig one.  Eww. Not even he liked it. (But it fulfilled his want to get one, so. Good enough for now.)  After that was covered, Zach continued to work out. He only stopped for a while to grab some wild mushrooms for dinner. He started to sink (it was very clear that the first thing to build was a shower), and he was exhausted.  But he did it! Right after midnight Zachary cut down his first tree! He wanted to build a shower right away, but was too exhausted.  He didnt even made it to his tent. And it started to rain. Eww. First day was a bit disappointing. What the next one will bring?

I just found out my fundie ex (who I have referred to many times on here) has gotten remarried. We were emailing back and forth last year and he said he was content being single. So I guess they had a Duggar style courtship and did that quick!! (Maybe he saw that John David is in a courtship and that prompted it?) I hope he has grown and matured since we've been apart and I hope he treats his new wife a hell of a lot better than he treated me! The only thing I'm pissed about is that he lives at the coast now, which is the one thing I wanted the entire time we were married. It's pretty funny that he's in a place that's known for its wineries because he's a Baptist and alcohol is all kinds of evil!!111!!1!

Had to deal with a jackass playing the "bumbling male" card at work today. He was creepy as hell. Bless my boss for staying close by in case the situation got out of hand. Pretending to be an idiot does not excuse inappropriate comments and actions.
