SLEEPY

Maggie Mae

It's very grey outside, which is doing nothing for my mood. And it's Tuesday and I already skipped my morning workout. I'm fine with the skipping, I needed the sleep more than the swim. But I'm not loving the lack of energy.

I know that on my lunch I will probably go to the gym and stretch and do something light and easy while watching TLC, which sounds like a pretty good time. After work, I'll go to the same indoor track I've been going every other day since January. I'll walk in the same door, see the same people sitting the same places. I'll do the run and socialize which will be fun. Then I will leave and go home, so I can go to bed. So I can get up in the morning and come back to work and do the same projects that I've been working on since January, so I can afford my gym memberships, so I can do the same things after work...

I'm in a rut.

And that's why I stayed up late last night reading a terrible book about fairies, telepaths, vampires, and werewolfs.

Which book? Sounds like a decent pick-me-up/snark material. :)

I hope you get out of your rut soon. I know that feeling well.

Hmmmm Twilight didn't have fairies, I'm out of the loop with current vampire books. Now I am curious as to what you were reading.

It's not current. It's the Southern Vampire Mysteries (aka True Blood.)

I'm ashamed to be able to think of at least 3 book series like that, besides True Blood!

And, um, what might those be? For research purposes, of course.

Oh, it's super easy fluff read. The last few are starting to be a little repetitive, and I'm tired of reading about her serving sandwiches and changing her clothes and cleaning, but I really enjoy the world that was set up. It's kind of a crossover genre - vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, romance, humor.

Sorry, just saw this!  Kim Harrison's The Hollow's series.  Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files,  L.A. Banks does a great series, forgot the name.  Lilith Saintcrow has two amazing series, either of those is amazing!  Jeaniene Frost Cradle series is outstanding.  I love love love me some urban fantasy!  I'd recommend Saintcrow and Butcher's first, they're fun, exciting, varied and get deeper the further in you get.  Saintcrow uses females for her leads, as most of those others (save Butcher) do.

Speaking of The Dresden Chronicles, if you like audio books, James Marsters reads them.

And his narration is why I loathed the attempt to make the books into a tv series.  I think it was in lifetime.  I refused to accept whoever they cast as Harry because his voice was not James.

I keep meaning to post something about Tennessee Brando here - every time I watch one of his videos, I think of Bro Gary and his buddies, because, while his accent is different, he uses a lot of the same southernisms as Gary. It's like he's redeeming the whole southeastern US for me (he's a progressive Democrat who talks about politics).

This video seemed especially apt - it's his take on the evangelical pastor who came out against the Trump bible.

      Spoiler

There's so much the pastor says, and so much about his style, that would be right up Gary's alley. But he's Pentecostal, his church is large, and it looks like they do the worship music stuff that Gary hates - no smokestacks, though.

Now, if Pastor Baker came out against Trump and his bible, that would blow Gary's mind.

Per story on Kress's IG, Rachel Morton had her baby. Born the same day as Issa.

Could Kress be talking about Addie or Francesca’s baby being born on Isa’s birthday? The baby (boy?) on Rachel’s lap looks bigger than newborn. Maybe it was born at the start of April?

It looks like joy may not have been there because of health problems with their family. They went camping with Austin's family and had a terrible time. Austin had breathing issues because of his Asthma. Gideon was also having breathing issues, which was officially diagnosed as Asthma when Joy took him to the doctor when they got back. The baby was cutting a tooth, which it why he was being fussy. I think joy had her own allergy issues because of all pollen. All the pollen may have made the baby fussy, too, in addition to him cutting a tooth. I guess they picked the wrong weekend to go because they go camping a lot and seem to always have a good time..

Hard agree. This is so many of the families I snark on. I have a number of friends who are over having newborns and toddlers and young children in general. And you know what they did as a response to that? They stopped having children! One friend was always a one an done. But another friend became a one and done after going through life with a newborn and realized she could not cope with dealing with that again. So she didn't!

I’m the same age as Braggie and I was so glad to be over the baby toddler stage. Her girl twins are the same age as my older son and her son Theo is the same age as my younger son. And she’s had 4 kids since having this kids. I would be so miserable and phoning everything in. If I had 4 more kids. I’m so glad I can focus on my 2 kids and enjoy parenting them.
