I was embarrassed by my bombardment of this blog so I didn't post this after I completed it about a week ago. But now I'm in Florida and am having wine with my husband and thought, oh, what the hell. It's from the Secret Garden Artist's Edition again.  I really love colouring these pages. They are so THICK!

I love the bird and his house but the squirrel looks like crap.

Oh!  I didn't realize you had done this page. I'm going to go and find it. Everything you've done is beautiful so I doubt I will agree with your assessment! (Thanks for liking it, though.)

Ok, @iweartanktops6, I just went through the whole blog and couldn't find it. What page is it on, do you know?  Can you post it here?

By the way, this blog is full of absolutely gorgeous pictures. I am proud of all of the Minions.

Gorgeous!  I love the way you transition from one color to another.  I can't do that.  If it's within the same black line, it's the same color!

Oh, I guess I didn't post it... I'll check my phone and if I don't have it photographed, I'll do it tonight, and get it posted! I'm so sorry you looked through them all! :(

Haha. That's ok, it's really nice to look at everyone's work. And you should post more!  Yours are beautiful. I look forward to seeing your version....

Thanks, guys!  I kind of like it, too, except for the stupid squirrel.  I coloured him initially in a too-dark brown and attempted rectification with a red.  He ended up just a dark brownish-reddish blob.  But, I guess he's off to the side minding his own business, so not too noticeable. Oh, well.

Someone (and I'm sorry I can't recall who atm) did a great little tutorial here about how to make transitions.   You might find it helpful.  It's easier than you'd think :)

@Fascinated At first I was like oh I love the red leaves the most, but as I scrolled down all the flowers are so beautiful.  I really can't pick out a favorite.

Do you happen to recall what the light brown you used by the red leaves is?   I really like that shade.

Great job!

Also, don't worry about posting too much.  That's what the blog is for, after all :)

I have like 45+ pages waiting to be posted, which is why I can do pics of the day on my own blog (though I've been a slacker lately).

Thanks for alleviating my conscience, @Curious!  I used two shades of red on those leaves although that's hard (impossible?) to see in the photo.  If I recall, I used Winsor and Newton Red and Lipstick Red.

I also read that tutorial when it was posted, and it is very informative and helpful.  (It's harder to do transitions with markers I think.  I have a blender marker but need way more practice with it before attempting in a picture that I care about, if that makes sense.)

Oh, shoot, you asked about the Browns, not the reds.  Again, two shades there. I'm pretty sure those were both Prismacolour markers but I'm not home and can't check/remember the names!

Love the W&N reds you used.  Their "Ruby" is a great shade as well. I have a blender marker too and can't figure out what to do with it at all!

Haha. That actually makes me feel a bit better about my inadequacies with the blender!

I, too, have a blender marker and am still trying to figure it out.  It does not work the same way a blender colored pencil does.  I have searched for books on markers, as there are tons of books on colored pencils, but no joy.

So one of these days I'm going to dig out some pages I'm not overly fond of (there are some in almost all books I have) and just test stuff out.   If I ever get it figured out, I will report my results.

Blending with pencils seems to be easier regardless, IMO.    I don't really have any place to post this, so might as well post it here.   I really like the prismacolor pencils, but they are SO soft, I feel like I'm using them up quite fast.   As a result, I'm not sure I will buy them again just because they are pretty expensive compared to other colored pencils that are also nice for what I'm doing currently.

I've read some tutorials on the marker blenders and have practiced on scrap paper. I understand the idea is to prevent the first colour from drying before applying the second. Or to wet both and blend together, I think. But, I've had poor results so far. The tutorials do say that there's a learning curve. There is!

@Curious, I hope you do try them and posts results. We will need before and after photos!

I watched a YT tutorial on using a Prismacolor blender marker and all I got out of it was that it could lift color to make a highlight.  I tried it and it looked like crap. Guess I need more practice!   :my_biggrin:

Thanks, @Grimalkin!  Yes, Prismas but I also used a few Winsor and Newton Pro Markers. I like them very much, too. I love my markers so much I can hardly stand to use them in case they run dry!!

Haha.  Ok, so we all need to practice!  We can do this!!!

Just so people are aware, I have bought a few different kinds of cheaper "expensive" markers to test them out and the quality of most of them has been just as good as the prismacolor, W&N and copic.

I really like the Blick brand.   I'll try to do a post on my blog regarding the "artist grade" markers like I did the others so people can use it for reference if they want.

That would be great! I'd really like to hear about and maybe see examples of the Blick markers. I love the Prismas, W&N, and Copics and am a bit particular about my markers...have tried to use less expensive ones and couldn't stand the way they felt or looked. If the Blicks are comparable to the  more expensive ones, I'd give them a try.  :marker:

Art isn't going to get a job.  If they did, it would make their application for SSI next to impossible to get approved some day.  Still no donations.  People are just tired of them asking for hundreds of dollars every month and less than a year ago many thousands.  Another request for many thousands just isn't going to get traction.  I think moving is probably a good thing but they will end up having to leave everything behind since nobody is willing to donate.  Art saying they would bake pies and use some of the initial funds for pie making stuff just shows how they thought they would have no problem raking in donations from people.  And it hasn't happened. They should feel grateful that their airfare and housing (whatever that means) are covered and try to figure out how to move their bed.  Or sell the bed on facebook marketplace for (hopefully) a good price and buy a new (used) one when they get to the secret new destination.

...it’s not money they had to earn so they don’t care. Every decision they make is very reactive as opposed to proactive. They rarely think of the consequences.

This seems to be their bottom line. And apparently enough people are seeing that that no one's willing to waste anymore money on them! Sadly I doubt anything will make them stop and think - unless it's someone in their anti-work community who they trust (which I highly doubt they have). If someone they know personally finally opened their eyes to how ridiculous the anti-work movement is, I could maybe see one of them accepting how untenable that belief system is and making changes from there. So realistically? They'll live their lives as (attempted) master grifters.

2 bathrooms works for us as a family of 4. But if we had more kids, I would probably want another toilet somewhere.

I am pretty sure that that is the exact same fridge, or a very similar fridge, to the one my sibling and their spouse put in when they built their new house three years ago. It's fine except that the water that comes out isn't as cold as I prefer my water to be.

I don't Love or hate open plan homes. They are very convenient for someone like my mother, who can't hear you calling from another room but who can tell that you're talking from across the room and use her lipreading/face reading skills to fill in what she doesn't hear. (she has a hearing loss.) My sibling has one and it's convenient when they are cooking because they can keep an eye on the kids. But they also have a playroom that is not part of the open plan, which I think is essential so that you are not continually stepping on Legos.

And I tend to think that people with three or more bathrooms are not cleaning their own bathrooms. Myself absolutely love having my own bathroom but then again I live alone. I think that having IBS and sharing a bathroom would be very difficult to do.

I was born with dark hair. Fell out, came back white blonde. Have been going darker ever since. It’s ash blonde (street dog blonde….) now. Which- as the internet tells me, is no considered „old money blonde“ (🤪🙄). Maybe that’s how we see it when I have finally grown out the dark brown I had dyed it…..
