I want this...

and this...

lim way too cheap to pay full seasonal prices for Christmas stuff...and my glow has already passed by the time after Christmas sales roll around so I've never gotten the tree.  The pink lights would be a no go since I'd be outvoted and I can't stage a coup since I do t do ladders.  But I really want a pink tree,  family is okay with a small one.

We do need another tree this year - the configuration of the new house demands two trees and with much higher ceilings we can finally get one of the big ones...but that's another green one,  I want the pink in addition to two free trees.

i think I'm officially over my refusal to decorate for the holidays and I definitely need a bigger house.

I love the pink tree.  It's very similar to mine.  As a kid, we always had real trees, but I loved the white artificial ones, so I got one the first year I lived on my own.  I put blue lights on it and covered it with blue and silver ornaments.  I still have it, along with a standard green artificial.  Both are 20+ years old, but are still in good condition, so I haven't yet been able to justify my dream tree:  silver/aluminum with a color wheel.

( I can't bring myself to trash the green or white, and having three will pose a serious storage problem.)

You channeling Lady Lydia kinda scares me :(

I've never fallen down her rabbit hole, but if she's a cautionary tale for me maybe I'll give it a look.  Keep the ferrets on alert.

The prettiest Christmas tree I ever saw was white with blue ornaments.  I'll have one like it, someday.

I have green trees, but no green/red. One all multi-BRIGT-colors, and one all white, and one blue/silver. (big house.)

It's a particularly depressing rabbit hole but not much shock value.

We have white with blue and white lights and blue and silver ornaments. I love it.

(We do have other ornaments not in those colors as well, but not that many).

Growing up, my next door neighbor had a white-flocked tree with all red light and red ornaments on it. It was a cool look, but not one I'd want to replicate. I like your pink tree idea, but at your house. Make sure to post lots of pics if/when it comes to fruition!

@louisa05

That sounds lovely.  Share a picture, if you don't mind.

You know what might be nice, a thread where we share photos of our Christmas trees!

I have to admit my tree is traditional green, and I have mostly red/gold decorations.  I enjoy putting it up, I've bought decorations from my travels and it's nice to reminisce about holidays.

@Cam Anti-anxiety meds were life changing for me, too. I had to work on not going down the rabbit trail of "what if I'd been on these 20+ years ago?"

Agree 100% with everyone’s remarks on Gothard’s stance regarding meds for ADHD, PTSD, etc. In mid-life I was hit with severe anxiety due to a health crisis. No amount of journaling, meditating, exercising or praying (at the time I still held Christian beliefs) offered one tiny, single bit of relief. My doctor worked with me to find the right meds to help, and when I started taking it, I literally went from sitting on my sofa shaking to getting up and walking back into my life. I’ve continued on the meds and am pretty sure I probably had untreated anxiety since I was a teenager. My family, including siblings, were of the “tough it out” mentality. They viewed this kind of medicine as a crutch, a sign of weakness, and they ridiculed and criticized it. Nice people, right?

      So, yeah, fuck Gothard.

I'm sorry you went through that, and very glad that you feel better now. Fuck anyone who doesn't take people's suffering seriously.

It seems the police think there’s enough evidence to prove Mica Miller committed suicide. Even if she did commit suicide and her husband didn’t murder her, he needs to step down as pastor. It’s obvious he groomed her and divorced his wife to marry her. And she did claim he was abusive to many people. He sounds like he’s a dangerous person and should not be in a position of authority pastoring a church.

I’m sorry (no I’m not), but I’m just having too much fun with this whole bear vs man thing.

Great point! Also, omg adulting is hard.

I never fully understood how important gratitude is for mental health until watching Artemis this past year. They went from successfully crowdsourcing an urgent move (should have been empowering, that took so much hard work and co-ordination on Artemis' part), and instead somehow reinforced all of their negative views about the world.

Gratitude helps us all be thankful for the little things, and appreciate the big things. But it is a habit, and if you don't make any effort to acquire it, no matter what good things happen in your life it's impossible to appreciate anything positive because of the constant pity party.
