Normally I would think about how a kid would be picked on and beat up all the time at school with a name like Spurgeon. However Spurgeon Seewald won't ever go to a school with other kids besides his future siblings and maybe some cousins.

Two snarky observations, one their kid's initials are S.S..... do you think they considered the ugly historical associations? I think it is a fair question to ask as his cousin's first name is Israel.

Secondly, although he is a cute little guy, first thing I thought was, "Oh great, Jim Bob mini-me 2.0."

At least when he's older, he can call himself S. Elliott Seewald.

I thought the name was a joke and that spurgeon meant something else. So I googled it and according to Urban Dictionary:

spurgeon
A beer guzzlin, bacon frying, big dick swingin bad ass motherfucker. Someone you really want to have on your side when shit hits the fan. Someone you'd let nail your old lady just for the story. A man that makes Chuck Norris tremble just hearing his name. Someone that seeps testosterone out of every pore of his body. Spurgeon, the man of all men.

Uh, so yeah :pb_lol:

It's like she thought, "OK, Jill gave her kid a name that threw lots of ??? in the air, how can I do even better?

I guess it's a good thing that little Moody Spurgeon is destined for life on the compound, because public school kids would rip him to shreds with a name like that.

WRT the initials, probably not. I have S.S. initials and have never had it brought up, so it almost certainly never crossed their minds.

Still don't see it as an issue.  No one thinks of Susan Sarandon or Sally Struthers and makes the leap to Nazi Germany.

Or Steven Spielberg, Sarah Silverman (not that they'd watch any of her stuff), etc.

Right.  Art doesn't want to work.  Instead they want SSI so they don't have to work.

I thought that the adjustable beds would be covered under their medicaid/medicare if was medically necessary? Is that not the case. I know they sought donations for the bed they are using now.

If it's not actually medically necessary, they can get one for half the price, and maybe it would be an incentive to not stay in bed all day.

They didn't get it because it was medically necessary.  They (the 2 of them) spend the majority of their day in bed so they wanted an adjustable one so they could sit up and work on their laptops.

Or sell the bed on facebook marketplace for (hopefully) a good price and buy a new (used) one when they get to the secret new destination.

I think this is a spin off of open plan living - you can't just shut a door and hide the mess. The trend here that I find absolutely mindblowing is a bathroom per bedroom - who's cleaning them all??

Well, unless the people in the bedrooms are under about 10yo, the person who uses the toilet cleans the toilet!

(In quantity we have one toilet per bedroom, but it's more like one toilet per floor, plus one extra for the master bathroom. I clean the master bathroom and the main-floor multi use toilet. Each of my kids cleans 'their own' toilet.)

Did you notice the photo they are using of themselves is really old? The secrecy of this whole thing makes it even sketchier.

This is not what people signed up for when they started following an ex-fundie who left the mega fam. It's interesting to me how far they think their original base will go without building/maintaining or even entertaining them on any level.
