@47of74 posted yesterday about it being National Cats Day it reminded me, much to my shame, that I have neglected to consult the National Day Calendar and have been remiss my Non-Holy Days of Obligation.

So let's take a look at what we have coming up for the rest of this week:

Today:

  • National Candy Corn Day (did you know it was made with marshmallows?  Marshmallows are food of the gods.)
  • National Publicist Day

Tomorrow 10/31

  • National Knock-Knock Joke Day

Thursday 11/01

  • National Brush Day
  • National Cook for your Pets Day
  • National Vinegar Day
  • National Deep Fried Clams Day
  • National Men Make Dinner Day (which I guess would make it a day of fasting for me)

Friday 11/02

  • National Banana Cream Pie Day
  • National Deviled Egg Day (that's picnic eggs to you Maxwell thread dwellers)
  • National Broadcast Traffic Professionals Day (Isn't every day NBTPD?)

  • Thank You 4

Michelle isn't the only one in fundie-land that I think wears the pants in the relationship. I have personally known a few fundie-lite women who stood up to their husbands when they felt like it, and had clear limits on how far the headship could go. They took their complementarian  lemons and made complementarian lemonade.

I will respectfully stand by what I said. I am aware that many lay Catholic women have positions of leadership. That doesn't negate the overall patriarchal structure of the Catholic hierarchy. I know many Assembly of God churches and Salvation Army churches that ordain women. It doesn't negate the complementarianism in many evangelical churches.

@just_ordinary, yes there is still a lot of complementarianism and the man is the spiritual head of the family in mainstream conservative Christianity. I mean, even the Catholic churches doesn't yet ordain women. (I know there are plenty of Catholic feminists, I just mean the official church doctrine.)

My Catholic parish has a paid staff of six  people. One priest, a building manager, three ministry coordinators, and an administrative assistant.  Only the first two are men. The head of the finance committee is a woman, as is the head of the building committee (she’s also the architect who designed and oversaw the recent renovations), and over half of the board.
This is not at all uncommon in US parishes anymore. Women are not barred or discouraged from leadership roles as they are in evangelical churches.

My mother was/is a compulsive cleaner. The house had to be SPOTLESS 24/7. Messes were never allowed, ever, dinner was washed up and put away immediately when done eating, not matter what dinner it was, be it a holiday or a family gathering. Dishes are NEVER left to soak, the floors get swept daily, vacuumed 3x a week, sheets are changed and washed weakly. floors are scrubbed weakly, windows washed monthly (inside and out, not an easy task in Iowa in January). Laundry was done just so, you can't wash your underwear with your towels, if you use a rag on the floor you throw it away, because it will NEVER be clean again. The old bat lives alone, and STILL spends 12 hours a week cleaning her house, she vacuums the vacuum tracks.

She hates cleaning, and complains endlessly about it, and we would always have a raging screaming match every day between her and 1 of us, because she was NOT the house n***** (yes she uses that word, she's not a racist, but...🙄) It didn't matter if we did chores or not, they were never done to HER satisfaction, so you got yelled at for doing them wrong, and you got yelled at for not doing them. We just stopped, we were in trouble either way, because there is no way to make her happy, she always moves the goal posts. When "doctor" Phil asks, do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?  She wants to be right. Needless to say housekeeping and things like that are a big trigger for my siblings and I. My sister and I can laugh about some of it. A few years ago my BIL was folding towels and I told him he wasn't doing it right, my sister laughed, then he asked "what is this magical way of folding towels?" My sister and I each picked up a towel and folded them the exact same way, without looking at each other, and placed them neatly on top of each other. He just said "that is messed up" We're like yep.

There are clearly times where we have seen Michelle calling the shots while still doing simpering headship poses with Jim Bob.

I have always been of the opinion that Michelle wears the pants in that relationship every way except literally.
