Mosquitoes come to suck your blood

Here's a thing to think about:

If you want to try and do your bit for the world and live a bit more aware of the ecological impact you have on the world, how far should you take it:

Do you let slugs live in your garden to eat all your food?

Do you kill mosquitoes that suck your blood?

Do you let nits live in your hair, because if they make their home in it, that's where they want to live?

Do you take a milder stance and try to rehome them:

Collect and leave your slugs elsewhere so they annoy someone else?

Try and catch mosquitoes to put them outside? (good luck!)

Removing your lice/nits and find a different home for them?

Or do you just say fuck it and poison them all?

Considering that the mosquitoes here can carry West Nile Virus, I'm pretty happy with killing them. A nearby county that stopped any spraying for mosquitoes 10-20 years ago (to save money) is really regretting that decision now.

I don't think poisoning every pesky life form that bothers us is the answer either. Head lice have gotten more resistant to chemical treatments over the years. Current recommendations for getting rid of head lice include devoting a lot of time to nit combing. I'm less familiar with slug problems, but I remember that you've been putting out beer to get rid of yours, right? That seems like an environmentally friendly method.

So, I guess my version is: kill the mosquitoes, lice, and slugs, but try to target your efforts and try not to make a big problem worse. I hope your garden is surviving the slug onslaught!
