Mr. Toad

I love this new book, 'The World of Favourite Poems' by Jane Heyes.  (Is anyone else getting bored with their books?  I have so many and yet I can't find pictures I want to colour!) (Such problems I have.)

Lovely picture, I love Mr Toads jacket. Yes I kinda feel that way about my books. Not bored as such, just too many pictures to choose from that I end up doing none sometimes.

Looks like a professionally illustrated page...love it, especially Mr. Toad's gorgeous attire!

Thanks, @caszandra and @Tikobaby.  I wanted him to look appropriately regal in his finery.  Not sure about his skin colour but, I guess it looks fairly toady.  I couldn't figure out his hand - is there a space between his 'fingers' or not?  So I just did it all in the green. Still don't know if that is correctly done.

His jacket, vest, and tie are gorgeously done and I think the way you did his skin is amazing!  Very artistic. I'd like a jacket like that myself!  Not sure about his "fingers" either, but what you did looks fine to me.   :my_shy:

He looks very royal. I have a distant memory of some TV show with a guy dressed up sitting in a wing back chair talking to the audience. I have no idea what the show was, or even if this is a real memory, but it's going to drive me nuts now. All this to say that Mr Toad reminds me of him. He's adorable in a high-brow way.

Thanks, @Playagirl.  What comes to mind reading your comment is Steve Martin on SNL years ago discussing what he wished for for (?) Christmas. I can't remember it well enough to re-create it here, but it was hilarious.  I don't think he was wearing a purple paisley jacket though, so I doubt it's the same (unformed) memory.

This is awesome! And yes, I totally flip through all of my books and "have nothing to color," even though they're all mostly blank! Haha.

I remember that skit but that's not it. I was thinking of Vincent Price and  Masterpiece Theatre but I think he wore a black suit for that. It's probably just my imagination in any case.

What a fun one.  I have tons of books and routinely have trouble finding something I want to color at that moment.  I really enjoy picking up a new book every couple months for something new.  I have so many books on my wishlist right now it's crazy.  Watching youtube coloring book walkthroughs is hazardous ;)

In which Lucas & Kara Botkin let it all out:

Maybe that reporter will do a follow up that involves serious research.

This thread isn't very active, but the podcast Be There in Five interviewed Olivia and I thought it was super interesting, answered a lot of questions I had had: https://bethereinfive.com/podcast/2024/3/10/welcome-back-to-plathville-feat-olivia-plath

It was really interesting, thanks. I also listened to her earlier episode that did a deep dive into Plathville. She said that she had read through Ethan and Olivia’s Venmo transactions (apparently that’s public?!) and they kept their finances so separate that they frequently sent money back and forth for little things.

My grandma always said "architects don't cook" in reference to impractical building trends.

Also there are peole who buy houses because they are impressive, but don't think about the practical side. I have a relative who built a house with a 2 story glass foyer (it very rare here) only to realise later that it needs a professional cleaning service their town hasn't (the windows are so high they need a high stair to be cleaned and that is more expensive that a normal cleaning service). So the cleaners come from a further town and it  increases the bill. They are a very clean couple and are desperate when it rains, the glass gets dirty but the cleaners can't come immediately. Also it's very sunny at summmer and cold at winter and the electricity bill is high. My conclusion is that 2 story *glass wall* is for the rich or for people not obsessed with cleanness.

I can’t imagine street parking over night all winter; how does your car start without being plugged in? Here the engine would freeze.
My area is kind of the opposite of cookie cutter. The colours and design couldn’t be the same as houses beside or across the street from each other.

I plug in. If I parked in the garage I wouldn't plug in. But the garage is one stall and it's not super fair for me to put my car and not his truck (which wouldn't fit anyway). Also winters are getting warmer overall and I don't need to plug in as much, as I usually only plug in when it's below 20F. I use an extention cord.

The garage is more useful for storage. We have so much outdoor stuff and only like 1600 square ft in this house. Great location and it's a tight housing market.

Not an excuse because he’s always been terrible, but I do think he’s going senile. The past five years he’s gotten more and more crotchety as death looms closer. The world will always seem more bound for apocalypse when you are losing touch with culture, technology, and youth.
